My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email.

It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life.

The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat!

JOHN MURPHY and her siblings (CLARKE GRIFFIN, OCTAVIA BLAKE, LINCOLN, RAVEN REYES and BELLAMY BLAKE) were saved in Menifee, California. The couple saved the kittens and got mom fixed. They fostered them till they were ready for us to take them. They were all named after the show The 100.Now they are all healthy and ready for a real home!

Meet JOHN MURPHY, a charming and affectionate Egyptian Mau from Rialto, California, whose playful spirit and love for lap time will melt your heart! With his stunning coat of shimmering silver and spots, this little heartbreaker isn't just a pretty face—he’s full of energy and joy.

JOHN MURPHY is the kind of cat who believes that playtime is never over. He’s always ready to pounce on a toy or chase a feather with the enthusiasm of a kitten. But when the play session winds down, he’ll happily curl up in your lap, purring contentedly as if he’s been waiting all day for this moment of relaxation. His affectionate nature makes him the ultimate companion for anyone looking for a cuddle buddy and a furry friend who’s all about love and attention.

But don’t let his love for snuggles fool you—JOHN MURPHY is also a playful dynamo! He’s especially fond of playtime with other cats, so if you have a furry friend who enjoys some friendly competition or companionship, JOHN NOLAN will fit right in. His energetic personality is contagious, and he’ll happily chase, wrestle, and play to his heart’s content.

This handsome boy also has a soft spot for treats. Show him a tasty snack, and you’ll have his full attention—he’s a true foodie at heart! His gentle yet spirited demeanor makes him an excellent addition to any home seeking a loving and playful companion.

JOHN MURPHY will thrive in a home where he can get plenty of playtime and love, whether he’s engaging in exciting cat-to-cat games or simply soaking up the affection from his favorite person. His social nature means he’s very adaptable and ready to bring joy to any loving family.

Could JOHN MURPHY be the sweet, playful companion you’ve been looking for? He’s eager to bring happiness and warmth to your home! If you're ready to welcome him into your family, don’t hesitate to reach out. For more information, find that on our website: Workinwhiskers.com

JOHN MURPHY is a DOMESTIC SHORTHAIR / EGYPTIAN MIX. He is about 1 year 3 months old. He has lived with cats but has never lived with dogs. He has never been around children.

JOHN NOLAN is currently at PETSMART *** 25290 Madison Ave, Murrieta, CA 92562 ***

AUGUST 2025: VOLUNTEERS are the only ones allowed to let you meet the kitty. Not PETSMART employees.

Volunteers are usually at PetSmart between 9 am to 1 pm for cleaning ONLY. The cats currently at PETSMART you are allowed to go visit. A good time to come visit is between 5 pm - 8 pm (Monday thru Saturday) and Sunday 3 pm - 6 pm. The VOLUNTEERS are only there in the evening for 3 hours so please call the PetSmart location, email us or visit the cattery for VISITING HOURS. Most days are different 3-hour shifts. It's based on volunteer availability and store hours. Store hours change with holidays.

******************* If you call the PETSMART location, please ask them to physically check the cattery door for the current week's VISITING HOURS. ******************

The kitties at foster/rescue homes, we will accommodate as much as possible. But steps 1-6 of the ADOPTION PROCESS need to be done before we do the OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS. It is easier to do the meet and greets at the locations listed below.

+++++ PLEASE NOTE: We only have cats in Murrieta and City of Industry +++++

PETSMART

in City of Industry, California off Colima Road

in Murrieta, California off Madison Avenue

in Hemet, California off Florida Avenue

in Palm Desert, California off Monterey Avenue

The crazy rescue mama will drive kitties to their new home, meet & greets, etc...once the phone interview and home check have been done. Gas donations always appreciated!

************* Please no calls to the rescue. No one is available to take calls. ************

If the CAT/KITTEN is still listed (meaning here or other websites) they are still available. It does not mean they don't have other pending applications or meet and greets.

Please note: Just because you fill out an application and are approved does not obligate you to adopt the cat/kitten. If he or she is not a fit...we have plenty of other cats / kittens available for adoption.

We are a SMALL rescue based out of Hemet, California. We are all volunteers that run the rescue. If we haven't reached out....be patient.

JOHN NOLAN is ALREADY fully vetted.
The adoption fee of $200 covers:

Neuter
FVRCP shots
RABIES shot
FELV/FIV test (Negative/Negative)
Drontal Dewormer
Stronghold Flea Control
Microchip

We are NOT a government FUNDED shelter and all our donations and adoption fees are for our rescued cats/kittens. So, we do not do DISCOUNTS.

If for some unfortunate reason you missed out on the kitten/cat you emailed about...I'm sure that we could help you with another rescue baby! Just ask!
