My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blu is a handsome 2-1/2 year old male Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on April 20, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Washington Boulevard in Belpre Ohio. Blu was wearing a collar but, unfortunately, there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag to enable us to locate his owner .. And he was not microchipped.

This good-looking boy has a tan short smooth coat with white highlights on his chest, a long tail, and a beautiful Boxer face with dark brown/black shading around his eyes, black shading on his chubby muzzle, and short semi-erect ears.

Since his owner was identified, Blu was placed on a 14-day hold and we were hopeful that he would be reclaimed. Sadly for Blu (as of June 20, 2025) he was still looking for his human to take him home.

Since he was not reclaimed, Blu is available for adoption and is hoping to find someone else to love him again. He will be neutered before being officially adopted. Blu could be fostered-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application while he is waiting for his neuter appointment.

Blu was quite content to relax and give us his best 'centerfold poses' in the intake kennel the day he arrived (which were beautiful), but we looked forward to taking more flattering outdoor photos of this gorgeous guy if he was not reclaim.

We had an opportunity to take updated photos of Blu on a hot steamy afternoon (June 20, 2025) when HSOV Volunteer Jennie Sherrard spent time with Blu for outdoor pictures.

Blu quickly 'took care of business' as soon as his paws were in the green grass/tall foliage on the perimeter of our photo area, so there's a good possibility that he is housetrained? Blu met several of our HSOV outdoor mascot shelter kitties and seemed a little too interested in them, so we aren't sure if he would be nice to felines or not.

Blu made the most of his 15-minutes of fame and thoroughly enjoyed his out-of-kennel time with Jennie. He really didn't want to waste his free time posing for serious boring still-life photos when he had a chance to stretch his legs and do a little jogging with Jennie (which we totally understood) (smile).

Blu weighed 60.4 lbs when he entered our shelter and may have gained a few pounds since then thanks to the gourmet food which our HSOV kennel techs serve up each day. Blu is very strong on a leash.

It was touching to see Blu's reaction when Jennie led him back into the shelter lobby (and into the air-conditioned room) .. Two of our HSOV kennel techs were sitting on the couch, and Blu immediately hopped up between them for some extra attention (and gave them some doggy kisses) before heading back to his kennel.
