My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Phil! He's a very adorable and energetic boy. He was running loose in Springfield, posted many places, and never claimed. Unfortunately, his foster family couldn't keep him and we were unable to adopt, so Phil is at the Haven searching for his forever home.
Phil is very friendly and social and very much wants to be with his people, so he's not a backyard kind of dog. He's a family dog. He likes other pups but wants to play and rough house, so a playful dog sibling will be the best match. Phil LOVES toys and hopes to have lots of them in his new home! Phil is active, smart, and responds very well to instruction. He is extremely trainable and would love an owner who knows the basics of working with a dog on leash manners and basic commands. He's doing pretty nicely with his crate training and will do well continuing with it.
Phil is likely a cattle dog and can be a little mouthy (he will learn not to do this with just a little work), so he probably isn't a good choice for small children at this point. Phil's estimated DOB is 6/2/2024 and his weight is about 45 pounds. He is a VERY good boy who deserves all the best. Please meet Phil at the Haven open 9-4 each day and help make his stay at the sanctuary a short one!

All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9am-4pm, seven days a week. No appointment needed for adopters. For more information, email havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647.

Adoption fees are as follows:
Puppies under the age of 6 months - $150

All animals are spay/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. Cats are tested for FIV/FeLV. Declawing is not allowed on Haven adoptees. Dogs are tested for heartworms.

We believe in an open, non-judgmental adoption process. We recognize that no one is perfect and try to match a person's pet expectations so fewer pets are returned.

We invite you to come in with your family (including fur siblings) and look around. If you find a pet you like, ask staff to meet the pet. Complete the adoption application either prior to coming to the Haven or at the Haven. Ask any questions you may have. Most of our pets can go home the same day.

We do not adopt a pet to anyone under the age of 18. We will not adopt to anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We reserve the right not to place a pet in a home based on the information we have or if we feel it is not a match for the person's lifestyle.

We are open EVERY day of the week (holidays may vary) from 9 AM - 4 PM. No appointment is needed for adopters. No adoptions will be started after 3:45 PM.

More about this shelter

Our Mission Statement
To rescue the abused, abandoned, and dumped animals in the area. To provide loving care, medical attention, and socialization in as homelike an environment as possible. To provide sanctuary to those deemed "unadoptable". To educate the public on humane treatment of animals and the importance and impact of spaying and neutering dogs and cats. To do our part to put an end to pet overpopulation, abuse, and inhumane treatment of animals. Euthanasia is necessary to be humane to a pet, not to control population.

Who we are
Haven of the Ozarks Animal Sanctuary is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. We are a no kill pet adoption facility in Washburn, MO placing approximately 530 animals each year in to loving homes. We do not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for animals in our care. Only animals suffering from significant medical issues or those that pose a danger are humanely euthanized. We offer lifetime sanctuary to any pet adopted from us. Haven of the Ozarks Animal Sanctuary has been serving area animals since 1995.

We are a licensed animal shelter located on 11 acres near Cassville in Southwest Missouri. Our cats live in community rooms with plenty of space to climb, play, and socialize. Our dogs live in large, outdoor pens. They enjoy access to fresh water, food, shelter, and shade, with swimming pools during warm weather.

We are a non-profit 501 c 3 organization funded through donations. We are NOT taxpayer funded.
