My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone, my name is Dolly and I am a sweet petite adult with a lovely dilute tortoiseshell coat. I was rescued in March 2025 with my days-old kittens (the “bugs” litter) and took great care of my 5 babies - it was such a relief to be off the streets and safe in foster care! I’m an anything-goes kind of kitty - social and friendly with people and other cats, very sweet, love to snuggle and my foster mom says I have a great purrsonality :) Sadly life on the streets was rough and after being rescued I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called stomatitis which required extraction of all my teeth in early June :( Happily my mouth has healed well, feels sooo much better now and though toothless I can eat just fine. If my story has touched your heart I’m available to come for a Saturday audition so please inquire about meeting me :)
Love,
Dolly

The cat adoption fee is $110 (or $175 for two cats). Second Chance Pets is a foster-based organization so all animals live in foster homes throughout the area. All cats are spayed/neutered, tested for FIV and feline leukemia, fully vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed and microchipped. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Clear Lake Petco (2410 Bay Area Blvd, Houston 77058). If interested in one of our cats please feel free to complete an application, found on our website www.secondchancepets.org, and email it to us at pets2adopt@yahoo.com for pre-review.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters must complete an application and SCP volunteers can help adopters identify cats and dogs that will fit best in their homes. SCP adoption counselors review the applications, conduct in-person interviews and discuss pet care responsibilities with potential adopters. SCP checks applicants' vet references and may conduct a home visit at its discretion. So that the best interests of the pet are served, SCP reserves the right to refuse an adoption to anyone. The adoption fee starts at $110 for cats ($175 for two cats), $190 for dogs and $245 for puppies.

SCP tries to ensure that all pets are healthy at the time of adoption. All are examined by veterinarians when they enter the program. All are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, tested/treated for parasites and disease (such as heartworms, fleas, feline leukemia and FIV) as needed. Cats are vaccinated for FVRCP and FeLV. Dogs are vaccinated for DHLPP and Corona virus. Animals are kept in foster homes to minimize exposure to disease and to help them be well-adjusted. It is the policy of SCP that no cat or dog may be sent to a permanent home before it is fully vetted, including spay or neuter. All of our rescued animals are microchipped.

Go meet their pets

SCP does not have a shelter or an office location. The rescued pets, volunteers, fosters, and adopters who comprise SCP come from all over the Galveston Bay area (mainly north Galveston and south Harris counties). Our adoptable animals are fostered and loved in volunteer homes until a permanent home is found.

SCP has cats and dogs available for adoption every Saturday (cats 10:30-2:30 and dogs 11:00-2:00) at the Petco store in Clear Lake (2410 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058 - corner of Bay Area and Space Center). A few cats may also be seen during the week in the condos at this Petco location.
