My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bluey's Personality

Have you been searching for a friendly, active, curious and loving cat to fill your life with purrs and kisses!?! Meet Bluey - a handsome blue-grey cat with emerald eyes that will melt your heart. This boy barely skips a beat - he loves to explore, romp around and investigate just about everything. Bluey is always happy to see you when you return home - he displays his happiness with meowing and purring. He is also a master of cuddles, always ready to curl up next to you for as long as you want.

Bluey can be a bit vocal when he wants to play or eat and can be demanding in the cutest way about what he wants! Never a dull moment with Bluey around. He likes to tell you what's on his mind and entice you to play with him. He's fond of batting toys around and thrives on interactive play with is foster parents. They have created a fun game of hide and seek that really gets Bluey going! Did we mention he loves chin scratches, being brushed and genuinely adores attention? He returns the love twofold with being the best companion ever!

What Type of Home Bluey Needs

Bluey needs an active home with more than one person and room to roam around. He's a young male with lots of energy. This means he needs people who are around to play and interact with him. A home with a family with an older child or two would be ideal. Or a home with a couple where at least one person works from home. He will not do well in a single person home in a small apartment.

Where Bluey Came From

Bluey was a stray kitty being fed outdoors for months by a kind person. After living on the streets, Bluey is very happy to now be an indoor-only kitty.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Please read our cat adoption guidelines (at http://www.spcanova.org/). We put a lot of financial and emotional support into our cats and want them placed in homes where they will be members of the family for the rest of their lives. Indoor cats, with care, can live up to 20 years. Not everyone agrees with all of our guidelines. Please read our explanations and talk to our volunteers. If you disagree with us, we suggest you adopt a cat from a different source such as a local shelter. When you adopt a cat from us, you must sign a legal contract stating that you will comply with our guidelines. The adoption fee is $150 for one cat and $250 for two.

For those interested in cat adoptions, all potential adopters must read our adoption guidelines (available on our website at www.spcanova.org), then meet the cat in person either at an Adoption Fair or in their foster home. We take applications only after you've met the cat and we both feel it's a good match.

All adopters interested in adopting a dog must meet the dog in person, and submit an application. A housecheck is done, and references are checked. If approved, the dog will be placed in the home for a two-week trial period, to make sure that it is a good "fit" for both people and dog. If it is, the adoption is finalized and the adoption fee is paid. We do not adopt outside of the Washington DC metro area.

Go meet their pets

More about this rescue

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Northern Virginia is a non-profit, all-volunteer, private organization established by local concerned citizens to rescue domestic animals from cruelty, neglect, and abandonment. We receive all our funding from membership dues, donations, and fundraising events. We are always striving to enlarge our animal rescue operations and expand our services to the community. Our voluntary Board of Directors, committee members, and volunteers are responsible for all SPCA activities. We do not have a shelter facility, and depend on foster parents to care for domestic animals until adoption.
