My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Koozi came to Longmeadow from another rescue alongside another alpaca. Upon her arrival (literally within the hour after she unloaded from the trailer), she surprised Longmeadow staff by giving birth to a baby! After our initial shock wore off, Longmeadow staff began caring for the new mom and her baby.

Koozi was afraid of people from the moment she stepped off the trailer, but she was a great mom. She let us care for her baby, a boy we affectionately named Alpacacino, and enjoyed spending time with him and the other female alpaca, named Poptart, that she came to Longmeadow with. It took a lot of time to get Koozi used to us giving her the care she needed, but eventually (and with a lot of patience) we were able to halter train her and lead her in and out from her turnout.

After her motherly duties were over and Alpacacino was weaned from Koozi, she and Poptart continued to spend their days relaxing in the sun and eating their hay. Although she is still hesitant of human interaciton, she has come such a far way from who she was when we first met her. Now, she resides at Longmeadow waiting for the perfect adopter who can give her the space and care she needs to make her happy and content.
