My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Monty – your new best friend!

Say hello to Monty, a sweet and spirited mini-Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging! At around 3 years old and 30 pounds, Monty is the perfect medium-sized buddy for adventures, playtime, and plenty of snuggles.

Monty is doing wonderfully in his foster home. He`s great with female dogs and is learning to feel more comfortable around males—his recent neuter is already helping him chill out. He adores kids, especially his human foster sister, and would love a family who includes him in their daily fun.

He’s mostly house-trained and has learned to love his crate—especially when it’s bedtime or mealtime. Just a heads-up: if he’s crated during exciting times, he might whine a bit because he doesn’t want to miss out,

Monty’s energy is medium-high—he’s ready for walks, playtime, and toys galore, but once he’s worn out, he transforms into a total couch potato. He’s a big fan of treats, toys, cuddles, and kisses, and his life motto is: “it’s a good day to have a good day!” – Monty

Monty does best when given structure. He’s still learning leash manners (he tends to pull) and can be a bit protective of food and treats, so he eats in his crate. He also doesn’t mind stealing toys from other pups—but it`s all in good fun. His foster family has seen great progress with his behavior by keeping him off furniture and reinforcing respectful boundaries.

He’s not fearful or shy—he wants to be wherever the action is and may get a little anxious if left out. A home where he’s included as part of the family would be his dream come true.

Monty is full of potential and ready for a family to love him as much as he’ll love them. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart—Monty might just be your perfect match.

More about this rescue

ThisIsHouston is a rescue dedicated to helping those who cannot ask for help!

The inundation of graphic dog posts and images on social media seems to have rendered a lot of people helpless. The bystander effect has grabbed a hold of our city and it isn’t loosening its grip. Most people are not aware of the stray overpopulation problem going on in this city. The others don’t help because somebody else will. Well, we are ‘somebody else’. We have no super powers. We have no magic formula or secret that gives us the ability to do what we do. We are just an example of what can be done when people come together for a common cause and leave egos at the door. Why do we do this? Because we choose to. Because we are tired of dogs suffering needlessly. And because we refuse to live in a world where there is a choice not to help.
