Here's what the humans have to say about me:
If you'd like to meet Ms. Doris, please visit our website to review our adoption process and requirements and schedule an on-site appointment. Walk-in hours are also available if that is more convenient for you. www.ggohinc.com
Ms. Doris was found on the side of the road here in New Richmond. She came in with swollen teets so it was assumed that she had some babies out there somewhere. We took her back to the location where she was found and we searched and searched but sadly, no kittens were located. In all likelihood, the kittens were kept and Ms. Doris was dumped. :(
Ms. Doris (or just Doris, as we often call her) is mostly an independent cat - she likes attention, but on her terms. She can get over-stimulated and will tell you when she's had enough of your human affection so we are recommending that if there are children in the home, that they been 13+ and can interpret her signs. No toddlers! Doris is not aggressive and can be quite sweet but as stated, she has her limits. She does allow handling and being picked up. Food is her motivator!
Doris does get along well with other cats and kittens but for the most part, she stays in her own space. She plays with toys and loves her treats. We have not assessed Doris with dogs so that is an unknown but with her personality, we would not recommend her going into a home with an overly friendly pup - older, calmer dogs that will pay her no mind would be best.
If you have a home and lifestyle that would suit Doris, and don't want to push your narrative onto her, please come meet her. She would love a home where she can just be herself and flourish while doing so. She deserves a home of her own to just be - be Doris, that is. (Note, Doris' profile pic is from her intake - she is not confined to a kennel and roams freely in our facility.)
Ms. Doris has an approx. DOB of 5/1/2024.

More about this rescue
Established in 2003, we are a no-kill rescue/re-home program that takes in abandoned, homeless and unwanted animals. We work tirelessly to find new, permanent homes for our rescues. Our program's Director began this journey when our county's humane society was closed down.
A note from our Director:
"I have been a lifelong rescuer; all of my pets (currently, 10 dogs and 5 cats) are rescue animals. They mean the world to me and I want to help as many animals as I can while I am on this earth. Back in 2003, I gathered together many animal lovers in the area and we started our rescue efforts; we've continued to grow over time and are now operating as a 501c3 organization, which has helped us strengthen our efforts to save the animals. We want to see that no animal goes without love, shelter, food or a happy life. We work on educating the public about the overpopulation problem, we promote spay/neuter programs, and we do group tours at our facility to teach about the rescue re-home world. To get our youth community involved, we visit schools to teach about responsible pet ownership, animal abuse and neglect, and what they as an animal advocate can do to help prevent these tragedies. We are proud of what we do here at our rescue and we believe it is our job to protect those that speak another language and quite honestly, we just could not imagine a world without them. I invite you to join our efforts by becoming a sustainable monthly donor, a volunteer with our program or, simply to be another voice for the animals. Contact us today to find out how you can help."
