My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Mystery was brought in by his previous owner on June 7, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Mystery has a tough time with the hustle and bustle of the shelter, but get him into a home, and you'll see him shine! He may take a little bit of time to warm up, but with patience and calm interactions, he'll reveal his loving and playful personality. Once he's comfortable, Mystery enjoys cuddling up in a cozy lap, being brushed and keeping his humans company. He's lived with a small dog and older children, but he can be fearful of strangers, so he'd do best in a relatively quiet, low-traffic home. He's also excellent about communicating when he's becoming overstimulated, so his new family should be able to learn his body language and give him a break from petting when needed. If you're searching for a friendly kitty companion to brighten your days, Mystery could be the one for you! Contact us today to learn more!

At SDHS:
Mystery has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

Shy/Fearful Cat: Mystery requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about him.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
