My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lana – a stunning, long-legged 6-year-old German Shepherd mix with a sharp mind, a big heart, and a personality all her own. She’s truly one of a kind — the kind of dog who thrives in a calm, structured home with someone who appreciates her independent, catlike nature.

Lana enjoys quiet walks and exploring peaceful neighborhoods where she can take her time sniffing the world around her. Once she trusts you, her affectionate side shines through — she’ll lean in for her favorite thing: a good, thorough butt scratch. When she’s happy, she nibbles her blanket or rolls on her back like a pig in the mud — it’s impossible not to smile watching her.

Lana can be anxious in new environments, which she manages well with daily Prozac. She has a strong prey drive, so a home without cats or small animals is a must. She also needs to be your one and only — she doesn’t enjoy the company of other dogs and prefers to have her humans to herself. While she loves calm, respectful interactions, young children can make her nervous due to their unpredictable movements, so a home with older, dog-savvy kids would be ideal. Because she’s alert and vocal about unfamiliar noises or neighbors, Lana is best suited for a single-family home rather than an apartment or condo. Busy streets and heavy traffic stress her out, so she’ll feel safest in a quieter, low-stimulation environment.

While Lana may not be a dog park socialite, she’s incredibly intelligent and highly food-motivated. She would thrive with enrichment activities like agility, nose work, or trick training to engage her clever mind. She doesn’t always come when called (she likes to consider her options first) and has been known to counter-surf, but with consistency and clear boundaries, she settles beautifully into a predictable routine.

Lana is looking for a special person who will respect her quirks, appreciate her strengths, and give her the quiet, loving home where she can truly shine. Could that be you?
