Shadow originally came to us as a stray on June 29 and was adopted on July 14… only to be returned two days later because — and we quote — “he’s a great dog but he just doesn’t add any value to my life.” 🙄 (Excuse us while we roll our eyes all the way across the room.)
Now he is back out of no fault of his own. Shadow's previous owner stated that he is very much a goofy, affectionate, and full of life kind of dog. He runs to the front of his kennel with a wagging tail and happy kisses the moment he sees you 🐶💖. He’s super easy to leash up, even if he gets a little squirmy with excitement. Once outside, he’ll give you a quick round of zoomies (complete with a classic puppy bow 🐾), then settle down to enjoy pets, cuddles, and exploring the world nose-first.
Shadow is friendly, curious, and affectionate — he loves attention and is quick with kisses. He’s manageable on leash (especially after that initial excitement) and participates in doggie playgroups here at the shelter. He’d love a playful, active home where he can stretch those legs, sniff everything, and get all the love he deserves.

The shelter is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, with adoptions closing at 4:30pm. The shelter is closed on Sundays and all government observed holidays.

City of Henderson Animal Care and Control is the only open admission animal shelter in the City of Henderson. We service the City of Henderson and the residents and animals within city limits. Our goal is to find forever homes for all adoptable animals and reunite pets with their people. We work with multiple rescue groups and allow any good adoptee to adopt from our shelter.
