My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Key West, FL

*This dog doesn’t belong to ASF and hasn’t been evaluated by ASF.*

Meet Cane! He is a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd/Yellow Labrador Retriever mix and weighs 75 lbs. He is neutered and up to date on shots but isn’t on heartworm prevention. Cane is good with older children! He is nervous around younger children. He hasn’t been tested around cats. No dogs, due to his reactivity! He is housebroken and crate trained. Cane growled and nipped the owner’s son. Once Cane warms up to you and trusts you, he is very loving! The owner is surrendering him because of the nip incident, and he is aggressive towards other dogs. He needs to go ASAP!

If you think you can provide a great home for Cane, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Cane.

More about this rescue

Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.

In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 100,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.

Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.

We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
