My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing: Nani – the mom, the myth, the master of "mom face."

Yes, she’s the proud mother of the Lilo and Stitch litter, which means she deserves a medal, a nap, and probably a lifetime supply of snacks for what she’s survived. She’s got the patience of a saint and the heart of a Hallmark movie heroine. Happy-go-lucky with a gentle touch, Nani’s the kind of girl who’ll melt into your lap for cuddles and then pretend she didn’t just have eight gremlins using her as a jungle gym. Basically, she’s love wrapped in fur, with a side of “please let this be my forever home now.” If you’re looking for a dog that radiates “Pinterest-worthy family photo vibes", Nani’s your girl.

Meet Nani — a 2-year-old, 45lb walking mystery mix of possibly Irish Setter, maybe Aussie, or perhaps something entirely invented by Mother Nature on a whim. Honestly, trying to guess her breed is like playing genetic roulette… but what she definitely is? Sweet. As in, melted-sugar-on-a-summer-sidewalk kind of sweet. Nani landed in the shelter and promptly gave birth to our Lilo and Stitch litter Despite her surprise-mom status, Nani handled it all like a seasoned pro, with the grace of a Disney princess and the patience of someone who’s accepted the fact that they’ll never pee alone again. Now that her little aliens are off to cause their own mischief, it’s Nani’s turn to soak up the spotlight — and all the belly rubs. She loves her people, craves affection, and will happily remind you that she’s earned every single snuggle. And while her breed may remain a mystery, one thing’s for sure: she’s 100% certified good girl.

Nani considers herself a canine socialite — the kind of girl who can crash any playgroup and somehow leave with more friends than she showed up with. She loves to play, mingle, and bring just the right level of drama-free chaos to the dog scene. Basically, if there were a dog version of “The Bachelor,” she’d have all the roses and none of the regrets. As for kids… let’s just say they haven’t been on her social calendar yet. She hasn’t really had the chance to test the waters with tiny humans, but we suspect she’d be fine as long as they don’t try to ride her like a pony or steal her snacks. Cats? Well, outside she thinks they’re suspicious and possibly part of a neighborhood conspiracy. Inside, she’s curious— more like “are you a weird squirrel”. And people? Oh, she’s all in. Nani greets new humans with the enthusiasm of someone who just spotted their best friend at Target — tail wagging, full-body wiggles, and zero shame about making you feel like the most important person in the room.

Nani is rocking an 8 out of 10 on the energy scale. Definitely part squirrel, part golden retriever — always excited, always ready to make friends, and absolutely thrilled to be included in literally anything. As a road trip buddy, Nani is the overexcited adventurer you didn’t ask for but absolutely needed. She believes seat belts are optional and personal space is a myth — if you don’t buckle her in, congrats, you’ve got a lap dog with no spatial awareness. Her travel motto? “Why chill when I could be in your face asking where we’re going every five seconds?” Leash walks? With a harness on, she struts her stuff like she’s headlining a dog fashion show — confident, cute, and not trying to dislocate your shoulder. Is it Olympic-level? Maybe not. But it’s a gold medal in “not dragging you like a sled.” When it comes to outings, she’s ready before you even get your shoes on. Nani lives for adventures, errands, coffee runs, and mildly inconvenient side quests — as long as she’s with her human. Her temperament? Sunshine in dog form. She’s happy-go-lucky, soft as whipped butter, and so full of love for her people. Her hobbies include being the life of the party, collecting stuffed toys like they’re priceless heirlooms, and gnawing on bones with the elegance of a medieval knight at a feast. Basically, if it squeaks or crunches, she’s a fan. Fence or no fence? Nani’s flexible. As long as she gets proper exercise and, more importantly, constant access to her humans, she’s happy. You could live in a house, apartment, or a very large shoebox — she’s not picky. Just don’t leave her behind, or she might report you to management (aka stare at you dramatically through the window).

Potty trained? Yes. A lady has standards, after all. As for kenneling... well, she hasn’t exactly been subjected to the Great Crate Experiment. She's been living the mom life — tucked away with her tiny gremlins, lounging on her own plush bed like the exhausted queen she is. And honestly? She hasn’t needed a kennel because she’s more into soft blankets and quiet corners than staging jailbreaks or redecorating your living room in shredded shoe leather. Nani’s got a voice, and she’s not afraid to use it — mostly because she just wants to make sure you’re in the loop. She’ll bark when the other dogs do (because clearly, something must be happening), or take the lead herself if she hears something suspicious.

So if you're looking for a loyal sidekick who comes with unmatched cuddling skills, and just the right amount of fun — Nani’s your girl. But don’t get too excited just yet. You’ll need to fill out that adoption app first at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app (we like to make sure she’s going to a home worthy of her greatness), and yes — you'll need to come scoop her up in glamorous Hutchinson, KS. No, she does not ship. This queen expects to be chauffeured home like the royalty she is.
