My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you’ve ever dreamed of living with a classic comedy duo, meet Chief Tui and Sina, the Lucy and Ethel of the bird world, minus the chocolate factory (but just as much chaos). These two Amazon gals (likely both female, though only Sina has laid the eggs to prove it) are an unmissable act of nonstop shenanigans.

One pretends to be a telephone. The other answers. “Who is it?” One meows like a cat. The other chirps sweetly, “Here, kitty kitty,” in a voice so convincing you’ll find yourself looking for the litter box. They’re not just parrots; they are a fully staged variety show wrapped in green feathers and big Amazon attitude. Whether they’re performing their greatest hits or judging you silently from their perch, they are absolute gold.

Their comedy routine also includes some pearl-clutching phrases, so a sense of spicy humor is a must. But if you are looking for a pair of bouncers at your bar who are unafraid to call your patrons out on their outfit of choice, they are your new fam.

Sina, a Yellow-Naped Amazon with vivid green, yellow, and red plumage, is curious, chatty, and playful. Sina loves to explore, climb ladders, shred cardboard and paper, and work on foraging puzzles. Affectionate in their own way, Sina will preen your hair, give gentle kisses, and nibble your fingers or nose, though stepping up onto hands isn’t quite in their comfort zone yet (unless you’ve got a nutty bribe and a stick). Sina is social with other birds and adjusts to new situations with cautious optimism.

Chief Tui, a striking Yellow-Headed Amazon with bright yellow and red accents, is bold, dramatic, and vocal. Tui will announce their opinion whether you come, go, or just breathe nearby. Unlike Sina, Tui prefers observing people from a respectful distance and doesn’t tolerate handling just yet, though they love climbing and bells, and will graciously accept a treat if you offer it properly.

Both thrive on daily out-of-cage time and exploration, and are curious, observant, and highly intelligent. They live for a healthy diet of pellets, fresh greens and fruits, with the occasional nut as a treat, and they do best in a calm, consistent household with a parrot-savvy person. Most of all, they are content to entertain themselves, or more accurately, to entertain you.

Sina and Chief Tui are bonded for life and must be adopted together. They bring the perfect balance of curiosity, independence, humor, and Amazon-sized personality, delivering a daily dose of laughter you never knew you needed.

Need a daily laugh? These two are the headliners you have been waiting for.

At the time you are seeing this post, this bird is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application if you are interested in any of our animals. The application can be found at www.greendogsunleashed.org. If you send an inquiry to ask if the bird is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. We cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application, but if/when your application is approved, we can set up a meet and greet with the foster in person or over video or phone so that you can both determine if it is a good match for both Frank and your family. Our goal is not to quickly adopt out animals but rather to find the perfect placement for every animal in our care.

*/*/* PLEASE NOTE: If we need additional information to process your application, we will send an email to request the information. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/*

We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most animals. Please read the description to see if this bird is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the bird and family are a good fit, they would take the bird home at that time.

For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.org. The minimum donation fee for this bird is $350. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances.
