My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 9/4/2022) He’s the perfect combination of playful and chill. After a good walk or a day out and about, he’s ready to be with his people. He loves just to be near those he loves, leaning into your legs when sitting on the floor. Patch will return your affection many-fold with lots of kisses and love.

We might consider Patch "a ladies man" as he does have an affinity and spontaneous attraction to the woman he meets. Plus, with his beautiful brindle coat that just gleams in the sun that goes so well with his big brown eyes and happy face the ladies all fall in love with him as well!

If going for a peaceful walk and then relaxing at home is your idea of a great way to spend your day, Patch is your pup. Patch walks well on a leash and is learning to heel. Want to go to a park or anywhere for that matter...Patch will happily hop in the car, always ready to go with his people. Well, whatever your lifestyle is, Patch is likely to adapt quickly. If you have a certian schedule and routine, that is cool with Patch, this easy-going, happy boy will gel easily roll with it.

Another BONUS about Patch; he is great with people and always happy to meet someone new. He is quiet and stays calm even when dogs around him get excited. He well behaved with other dogs and children but likely needs dogs and kids more his own size just so he doesn't knock them down in the excitement of playing. That said, Patch adores younger children and will cover them in kisses. He is also very gentle when taking treats from the little ones. Please no kitties, just not his thing!

Patch has been thru a basic obedience course and is great at learning new commands. You want to know how smart Patch is? Do you have kid toys as well as dog toys? Put Patch's in a different basket and show him which are his and he will amaze you by playing with only his toys. Some toys are only for outside? He will pick one up on the way out the door. He is very food driven and responds well to positive reward training. Tasty treats are a great motivator for Patch. Want to keep building his "vocabulary"; he'd be happy to be your student! He is always happy to get praise and and love pats for doing a job well done!

Like a diamond he is sparkles in the sun, he is eager to please and learn what you want him to do. Give him love (and treats!) and you will be greatly rewarded.

As part of Patch’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Patch, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
