For safety reasons you should never go for a hike, walk or run alone, especially because I’m here prepared to play along with you! I am 9-month-old Barney, a mixed breed brindle pup eager to start my life outside the shelter. I am trim, physically fit, lean and live to run, hike and play fetch.
I have a beautiful kind face and big dark eyes. I am playful, smart, joyful, friendly, and healthy. I am looking for a strong and kind pack leader to adopt me and help channel all my puppy energy. Could you please teach me more commands besides ‘sit’ as I’d love to learn to ‘roll over’ so that you can more easily give me lots of belly rubs? And I need you to help me become fully potty trained.
I haven’t had much experience with other dogs and am unsure of how to act around them. I would be best as the only dog in your home until I figure out how to live outside the shelter. When I get nervous around another dog a loud blast from a squeaky toy helps to break my gaze.
I am neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. I need sturdy kids and/or adults who will enjoy outdoor activities with me. Let’s check each other out and play some fetch at the park so we can kick off our love affair! Just contact the faithful staff at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays. Tell them that you need to meet that wonderful Barney pup.

More about this shelter
Our Vision - Be Our Heart & Voice
Building a caring community where every adoptable and treatable pet finds a life-long loving home.
Our Mission
The Humane Society of Sedona is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of pets in our community and beyond. The Society has served the Verde Valley since 1966.
The Linda and Allan Brecher Center for Animals at the society is designed to allow every person, who desires the love of a pet, to adopt and provide a forever loving home. The Center provides quality care and positive reinforcement behavior training for adoptable pets. Passionate volunteers help walk and socialize the pets in our care. Foster pet parents are an important part of caring for pets outside the Center.
The Society provides vital services for pets and people alike through income-based affordable spay/neuter surgeries and vaccination clinics. Also, for families in need to feed their pets, we have a Pet Food Program.
Another public resource is our adult and youth educational programs.
The Society relies on community support, contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Society’s thrift stores and some fees for service in order to save pets’ lives.
