Meet Mel, a playful young pup with a face as striking as her personality! With her dark “mask” and bouncy energy, Mel is a joyful little whirlwind of fun. She’s currently working on potty training—using pee pads indoors and learning to go outside—and is making great strides each day. Mel absolutely adores other dogs and truly blossoms when she’s around them, so a home with a canine companion would be ideal for her. She hasn’t had experience with cats or kids yet, but with her friendly nature, she may do just fine with proper introductions.
Mel loves plush squeaky toys, bones, and anything she can carry around—especially socks and shoes! While she’s full of puppy energy and can be a little mouthy during play, she’s also incredibly affectionate once she’s tired out, happily curling up next to you for cuddles. She’s still figuring out leash walking and basic commands, but she’s smart and eager to learn. Mel can be a little shy with new people at first, but once she warms up, she’ll follow you around the house like a fluffy little shadow, hiding behind your legs during loud noises and watching everything with curious eyes.
Mel may need flea treatment, and we’re happy to help guide her adopter on that. She’s young, silly, and still learning—but her sweet nature and goofy habits (like chasing her own tail or nibbling her paws) make her incredibly lovable. This little masked marvel would thrive in a home full of toys, love, and other dogs to pal around with. If you're looking for a snuggly, spunky sidekick who’s cute beyond belief, Mel might just be your perfect match.

Our mission is to provide the programs and services needed to eliminate the killing of at-risk animals due to lack of space, adopter or foster.
San Antonio Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Due to alarming euthanasia rates, San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) was founded in 2012. SAPA! is unique—it is the only high paced, high-volume rescue in San Antonio, saving 6,000 at-risk cats and dogs annually.
Since its inception, SAPA! has saved more than 47,000 dogs and cats. SAPA! provides safety nets for the dogs and cats that fall through the cracks of all other lifesaving options and end up on the euthanasia lists, often with just hours to be saved. SAPA! promotes the availability of these dogs and cats to other rescues, adopters and fosters.
