My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

His name is Jax, he is twelve yrs old.

He has a grade 4/5 heart murmur, with severe mitral valve disease. He has a loose mass on his side which has not gotten bigger over the last few months. He is on a daily medication regimen that helps manage his symptoms. He is no distress. An echo was done. Sadly his heart cannot be fixed and he cannot be given anesthesia for any procedures.
Jax is such a good dog. Don't let his age fool you. Don't let his heart condition stop you. This boy lives each day eith the energy and enthusiasm of a youngster. If there's a squirrel or bird in the yard he will run like the wind to chase it. Going for a car ride or walk? He's jumping around ready to go. Need a guard while you shower, sleep or relax on the couch? Well he's your guy. He has a prance in his walk. Head held high so he misses nothing. And he's really smart. He learned to use the dog door in a day. Only needed to be shown once where his bed is.
Sensitive to correction, he tries not to make the same mistakes.
He's a little guy only 20 lbs.
His little head is always in the window when I pull into the driveway. The first one to greet me at the door, so happy to see me.
Not interested in toys or bones. Not a fan of thunder, he finds a safe place til its over. Doesn't like other dogs in his personal space and will move away if he can.
He likes a bit of chicken and can food with his kibble.

If you can open your heart and home to this lil man, I know you will not be disappointed. There is something about him and he will reach in and touch you deeply in those special places of your head and heart. Currently fostered in Bradenton.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an Adoption Application. When that is approved we can arrange for the prospective adopter to meet the dog they are interested in. We do require an adoption contract to be signed at time of adoption. We have a virtual home-check process (don't forget to submit photos of the exterior of your home!) Adoption fees range depending on the age of the dog. We do have dogs located at qualified fosters throughout the state and also out of state.

Go meet their pets

Since all rescue dogs live in foster homes, there is no single facility to meet pups.

You will need to contact Ewenity Farms HDH to make arrangements to meet the rescue dog after you have an approved app on file. Apps can be filled out at ewenityfarm.org

More about this rescue

We are a small, foster-based rescue organization located in Southwest Florida. Being small helps us give more one-on-one attention to individual dogs and their needs. Rescued dogs are kept in our homes and treated as our own. Herding dogs are unique. They are highly intelligent and require much of the owner’s attention. The dogs are evaluated, when they come into the rescue, for any temperament and health issues. Then they are given basic obedience, socialization and rehabilitation as it is necessary.

It is our sole purpose to find forever homes for these loving, wonderful dogs that have been discarded through no fault of their own. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and on flea and heartworm preventative.
