My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Laddie was taken in to rescue on 4/21/25. He had a ton of undercoat which he was starting to shed, but when you felt through that thick undercoat, you could feel every one of his ribs. The poor thing was starving. He showed up at a very small hobby farm and the owner contacted rescue as she could not afford to keep him. He definitely looked like a rough coat, sable collie puppy when we rescued him. He also still has puppy traits and characteristics that make us think he is probably somewhere between 10-16 months old. Our vet thought that, due to the discoloration on his molars, he was perhaps as old as 2. There is no telling what he found to eat, and we are thinking that caused his molars to be less than pristine white. The poor thing is very wary of new people. While he was out on his own, trying to survive, there is no telling how many homes he approached for help, only to be yelled at and run off. We have finally brushed out all of the undercoat he was shedding and his coat now looks more like the coat of a Border Collie. He is small for a collie but too big for a Border Collie and he still seems to be growing. Even without the thick undercoat you can no longer feel his ribs so he has slowly put on weight. He initially weighed 33.3 pounds. On 7/7/25 he weighed 50.3 pounds which seems a good weight for him at this stage of his development. At the hobby farm he was great with cats, other dogs, chickens and goats and seemed to quite at home with them. Laddie has been neutered and is up to date on vaccinations. His heartworm test was negative, but there were microfilaria in his blood sample when viewed under a microscope. Due to this finding, he is on the Doxycycline protocol for heartworms. Laddie’s adoption donation is $600 which includes the transport fee of $165. Laddie is being fostered in Arkansas. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
