My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Q: Why should a person or family adopt you?

Bubbles: Because every home needs a gentle, loving soul to remind us that it is okay to peer out the window to see birds and squirrels, admire the spring flowers, and watch the rain and snow; chill and watch tv; eat; and nap. I am a loyal companion who will listen when you talk to me, watch t.v. with you, and adore my human. Did I mention my gorgeous big green eyes and cute “moustache”-like markings around my mouth and that I am a chill, low-key dame?

Q: Are you one of those loud, obnoxious types?

Bubbles: I am quiet but will meow if you need a reminder to feed me so I do not miss a meal! As a mature dame, you have no worry about me clawing furniture, jumping on the kitchen table and leaving cat hair, or jumping on furniture and knocking off your crystal or glass picture frames.

Q: How would you describe yourself?

Bubbles: You will love my quiet, low-key, mellow being. Don’t mistake that for shyness. I enjoy peaceful, predictable moments. Although I can be independent and do not require a lot of attention, I crave companionship.

Q: What are your hobbies?

Bubbles: My two favorite activities: watch t.v. sitting on the sofa with foster mom (especially with a soft fleece blanket to lay on) and sleep on or next to foster mom’s desk and watch her work (with the added perks that I can prompt her to pet me and even to give me treats!). If foster mom seems okay with it, I sometimes join her video conferences – colleagues have remarked what a beautiful, sweet cat I am. I play quietly with cat toys.

Q: Do you have any endearing qualities?

Bubbles: I excel at watching people and happenings outside the patio door and windows. I am well-behaved and like to be petted and have people talk to me. I will sleep at the foot of your bed (with a step stool to get there). Children do not bother me as long as they are well-behaved around me.

Q: What are your living needs?

Bubbles: Not much different than most cats and humans: water, food, shelter, reasonable health care. Quiet home with places to be near my human and to chill and nap, without another animal. Breakfast and dinner – wet/canned 3 oz. (I like Friskie’s poultry pate variety case from Walmart) and dry (urinary tract friendly food available at Walmart, PetSmart, or online). Clean water in bowl. Litter box (I use eco-friendly newspaper pellet litter). Thyroid and chronic arthritis pain medications (less than $50 per month, added to my wet food every day). Step stools to access sofa or other off-the-ground places where I nap or sleep. Treats (I prefer Temptations chicken). Kind, predictable human companion. A few toys I can bat around on the floor would be nice too! My foster parent will send along my fav pillow, my raised food bowl, and my litter box for seniors. Believe it or not, I also eat the canned urinary care cat food that most cats refuse to eat if you choose to feed that to me periodically or regularly (less than $3 a day). No other pet in my furr-ever home, except maybe a fish.

Q: Any concluding thoughts?

Bubbles: Although I am a senior cat, I am alert and enjoying life and am a loyal companion. I’m not a celebrity, but I have my own photo album: Bubbles | Flickr or URL: https://www.flickr.com/photos/foster_cats/albums/72177720323831003. I will reward you continually with companionship, adoring looks, head bumps, and purrs when you pet me and will be forever grateful for our mutual companionship.

Q: How does someone apply to adopt you, visit you, and pick you up?

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adopters fill out an application that screens for problems that may be detrimental to our cats and kittens. Once the adopter is approved we provide veterinary referrals which help with low cost spays or neuters for the kittens that are too young at the time of adoption. We are always available to help with behavioral issues that arise. We provide numerous information sheets in our adoption folders, plus the medical background of each cat. The only fees involved with our program are adoption fees that offset our veterinary bills.

More about this rescue

Fancy Cats Rescue Team was founded to provide the community a "safety net" for cats and kittens that are abused and abandoned, or added to the euthanasia list at the shelters that we are currently participating with. We are a 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Organization and participate with the United Way/CFC #8929. The goal is to have no kill shelters in place. Education and responsible pet ownership are the foundation of our organization. Our program provides literature, counseling, referral services and educational resources to families and individuals needing guidance. Teaching people responsible pet guardianship by spay and neutering their pets, behavioral modification and health concerns. We also provide a mentoring environment for our youth volunteers where they can learn the rewards of community service while caring for animals that need their gentle, loving kindness. They also interact with the community providing self-confidence and the ability to interact with a variety of cultures and diverse backgrounds. Once an animal is received into our program, they remain with us until a safe, appropriate home is found. They are never euthanized based on their age or space limitations. They are given appropriate medical care, immunizations, spays or neuters and endless hours of tender, loving care. We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. We are funded by community donations, 91% goes toward the care and well being of our animals. Our adoption fees help offset our veterinary bills.
