My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Basil is a beautiful 5-year-old gray tabby with a soft pink-orange nose and a sweet, gentle personality. She came to HART in the spring of 2024 after her previous guardian could no longer provide the care she needed. When she arrived, Basil was struggling with fur loss, chronic vomiting, and other gastrointestinal issues. Our Medical Team discovered that her symptoms were caused by severe food allergies.

Now, with the right medication and a specialized diet, Basil is feeling much better and showing her playful, affectionate side. (Ideally, she would continue a prescription diet for her allergies, though at HART we are unable to feed prescription food to an entire room due to cost.)

Basil would thrive in a calm, cat-savvy home with an adopter experienced in giving oral medications and who has an established relationship with a veterinarian. She gets along well with the other cats in her room and would likely do fine with older children or mellow dogs.

Our Adoption Team will go over her specific healthcare needs with you before adoption. Come meet Basil in Room 1!
