Meet Coconut! This young girl was quick to steal all of our hearts, and once you meet her, you will understand why! Coconut first came to us from a neglectful situation, so the first 8 months or so of her life were pretty rough and confusing for a dog like her. She recently came back into our care again due to housing issues and is ready, once again, for her forever home. She has made amazing progress with us, and with time and patience and some extra training, we are helping her reach her full potential! Since she is a bit under socialized, she will need extra training and time to grow confidence with her new family. She LOVES other dogs and could use a canine brother or sister to teach her how to play! If you are ready to give this girl a second chance at her new life, come around and meet Coconut today!

We invite you to visit the shelter locations and meet the animals and the adoption team!
Our adoption process is aimed at matching you, your family and your current pets with our animals for adoption. An adoption counselor will introduce you to our animals in a private meeting room. We will share information about the animal's medical and behavioral needs as well as their history.
When you find the right pet for you and your family, the adoption counselor will assist you in completing the proper paperwork. This process includes signing an adoption contract, reviewing medical history and providing proper pet care information.
What you will need in order to adopt:
A valid photo ID with your current address.
We recommend all members of the household meeting the animal before adopting.
If you are interested in adopting a dog and have other dog(s) living in your household, it is recommended that all dogs meet each other at the shelter.
Certain animals require additional steps or requirements.
Adoption fee is accepted in cash or credit/debit card. Checks, American Express, Discover, Care Credit are not accepted as payment.
PLEASE NOTE: We are not able to place a hold or accept a deposit for animals that are not available for adoption, that you have not done a formal meet and greet with, or over the phone. Adoptions are approved for the first qualified home. Adoption is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.
