My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

File #25-056Current Foster Location: Kinburn, ON *Please note that we do not typically adopt outside of a 2 hour radius from the foster dogs current location* Hi. Um hi. Im Skittles, and this is a lot of attention. But okay. Here we go. If you're looking for a dog who loves hard and lives loud... it's not me. Yet. Im still figuring out how to dog. Loud noises? Suspicious. Sudden movements? Suspicious. People? Definitely suspicious. Dogs are my jam. I didnt always know thatwhen I first got here, I avoided the resident dogs like they were vacuum cleaners. But now? I am the vacuum. I chase ankles. I instigate tug-of-war. I yell at them until they play with me. Im basically the annoying little sister no one asked for, but kinda starts to love anyway. Having a confident dog in my forever home is non-negotiable. I need them to help me feel safe, teach me the ropes, and join me in my favourite game: Drag The Pool Across The Lawn Until the Human Gets the Hint. When Im not splashing in my kiddie pool or playing bitey-face with my foster brothers, youll find me napping in my crate (my happy place). I love my crate. Its where I feel safest. Speaking of humans: I'm not ready to be cuddled or pet or smothered with affection. I might sniff you. I might steal a toy near you. I might even lurk behind you in the yard like a very awkward shadow. Also, no kids for me, please. Id panic if one zoomed past or yelled, "TAG!" or sneezed too loudly. Im on anxiety meds and will continue to need them in my new house. I need a calm, patient adult or two who understand that trust is earned, not expected. I dont do walks yet. Leashes are terrifying, and I will straight-up bolt if I panic. My ideal castle includes a securely fenced yard with easy access where I can play safely, bark joyfully, and maybe chase a garden snake or two. So yeah, probably no cats in my home either. I appear to have a bit of a prey drive. I know Im not for everyone. But maybe Im for you. Someone whos patient. Someone who understands that healing takes time. Someone with another dog who wouldnt mind sharing their pool. So if youve got a quiet home, a big heart, and a willingness to celebrate small victories (like me taking a treat from your hand without sprinting away), I might be your girl. Apply to adopt me, and we can live quietly ever after. Please visit our website www.ittakesavillagedogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other available dogs.
