Gray Girl ACCT-A-218932 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Gray Girl must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by Thursday, May 22nd at 10AM. Should Gray Girl’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal.
Meet Gray Girl, a six year old gal who was found as a stray on 4/29. True to her name, Gray Girl is a silver beauty with a gentle spirit. She's been nothing but sweet during her time at the shelter, and staff and volunteers alike have fallen for her easygoing and affectionate nature. Gray Girl is calm on leash, takes treats gently, and already knows sit and paw. She enjoys a good cuddle session and doesn’t demand much—just someone to finally see her for the loving companion she is.
In playgroup, she gave friendly greetings and showed some interest in playing, and then preferred to do her own thing. She may appreciate mellow canine company and would do well with dogs who match her calm energy. However, during a more recent introduction through a fence, Gray Girl became overstimulated and displayed reactive behavior, including snapping and biting at the barrier. If there is a resident dog in the home, she will need slow introductions to them; pack walks are great for her! Gray Girl would love a home that can take her on strolls and give post walk snuggles! She would enjoy nothing more than to sit in your lap and get belly rubs. This gal has so much love to give—could you be the one to give her the second chance she so deeply deserves?

5/12 - Low/medium energy. Awkward meet with Quill but marvelous otherwise.
5/13 - Low/medium energy. Lap dog. Loves pets and rubs.
On 5/12 per staff: Took Grey Girl out for a walk to meet Quill. Had no issues leashing her, smooth exit out of the kennel, and she was well-behaved on leash, pulling minimally, sniffing around and curious. She remained relaxed and loose throughout the initial part of the meet with Quill (walkalong), seeming interested in him but not insistent on meeting him. She remained loose and curious until we got on either side of the fence, at which point she began to get pushy: muzzle-punching / snapping at the fence, and eventually biting at and holding onto the fence for a second. We steered the dogs away from each other and ended the meet. Had no issues getting her back into her kennel.
On 5/12 per volunteer: Loved her! She loves to chill out and cuddle. Such a special girl
On 5/1 per staff: Gave good gate greetings with dogs in the yard, showed some
interest once entering, semi-steerable, did initiate play and then showed little interest and kept to herself, Marking primarily as Gentle Dainty Play style
On 4/30 per volunteer: Easy to remove from crate, when I approached she had soft eyes, ears back tail middle wagging, loose body.
Pulled hard on leash going out, did both with potty right away. Knows sit and paw, takes treats gently.
Saw a dog in the pen and looked and looked away, unfazed.
Pulled much less coming back in and was easy to return to kennel.
