My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Buttascotch aka "Butta"

A shy little queen just waiting for her glow-up We always see amazing transformations between the “before” and the stage they’re with us but when they get to their forever home!!!? It’s such a huge change and we would love this for our girl!

Butta came to us through another rescuer when trapping at a difficult hoarding situation. She was one of the last (and shyest) cats to be saved — and honestly, who could blame her for being a little unsure of the world?

She’s now been with us for almost a year (as of this December) and she’s made some wonderful progress in a shelter setting but know this environment isn’t where she can truly thrive. She’s ready for her next chapter — she just needs the right person to help her get there.

Butta is around 4 years old and very much an independent lady. She absolutely looooooves to play — wand toys are her jam — and while she’s not quite a snuggle bug yet, she’s starting to enjoy gentle pets from people she trusts. It might take her a while (or maybe never) to become a lap cat, and that’s okay! She’s gentle when handled, and with patience, we know there’s so much more to come from this sweet soul.

What she really needs is a safe, quiet, and patient home — one where she can continue to learn that she’s safe and loved.

We’re ideally looking for someone open to a foster-to-adopt situation, so we can support both you and Butta during the transition. But if adoption isn't quite right just yet, we'd still be thrilled to find her a long-term foster who can give her the time and consistency she needs to feel secure.

She’s come such a long way, and we just know there's a brave, playful, loving cat in there ready to shine — she just needs the right space to do it.

If you’re the kind of person who believes the best things are worth waiting for, Butta might just be your girl. She’s been through a lot, but with time, love, and a cozy indoor home, her true glow-up can finally begin.

Got questions? We’d love to chat
