Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet the Take-Out litter! Funny story, these are actually two litters of puppies from sister Dachshunds. By the time the puppies could toddle, the family lost track of which puppies belonged to which mommy. We are guessing they have the same Daddy. DNA was just sent in, but it won't be back until after the puppies are likely adopted. We think a home familiar with smaller dogs and kids over 8 years of age would be best. Of course another friendly dog is great.
Chow Mein is a low rider and at 12 weeks, he's about 8#. He also has that fun tri-coloring. Very recently - he started to get longer - no really - it's like the Dachshund side of him became more prominent. Hilarious! The whole litter is very social and super sweet. They are not big barkers, and typically are only noisy when they are sad that the foster mom left. Chow lives the fosters big dogs and is always up for a cuddle. ?
This puppy is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated to appropriate age. They will need more puppies vaccines at 13 and 16week.Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot!
The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.
Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.
Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood and they are ready to go home!
Adoption fee is $525. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.
Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
