My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please Help Roxy! Before and after pictures 💕She needs a new forever home. Loves people of all kinds but would be best as an only dog in the home to live her best life. Amazing loving dog….anyone need a loving companion?
Roxy’s Story
We got Roxy from Hope Haven in July 2021 as a foster dog. She was in bad shape. Her previous owners didn’t take care of her. She was missing fur on more than 40% of her body, emancipated, and she was visibly sad. Pictures of her were heartbreaking.
After regular medicated shampoos and a consistent healthy diet, Roxy’s skin condition cleared up and she gained weight. She had never been inside a building before apparently and it took some coaxing to get her into our house. We were told she was always kept in a dog-run outside.
Over time, she adjusted to her new life and family and finally started wagging her tail and smiling. Since joining our family four years ago, she has grown to be a loving family member. Roxy is now 6 yrs old. She goes to work with her German Shepherd sister Abby and Dad every day. She sleeps in her own bed in Mom and Dad’s bedroom. It’s so peaceful to watch her sleeping. She often sleeps on the couch, while we watch TV, with her feet twitching a little as she dreams.
She is with people literally 24 hours a day, both with work and home. She goes outside to go potty on her own and loves traveling in Dad’s truck with her head out the window, sniffing the air. Besides her sister Abby, she has two brothers, Lennon a Shih Tzu and Diego an American Stafford Shire Terrier. She also has a little sister, Lucy, our rescue cat. She loves being with family nearby, especially outside.
Over time it has become apparent that Roxy would be an ideal dog if she was the only dog. Her and Abby are always in competition to be first; first outside, first to get the toy, etc. We learned that female GSD and a female Rottweiler (mix) is not a good combination. This is well documented. We did not know this initially. The “always having to be first” or the Alpha Dog factor are probably in play here. When Roxy is alone, without other dogs, she is a perfect pet. She is loving, listens to commands, and wants to be with you, doing what you’re doing.
Recently, through a chain of events, we have found the need to rehome Roxy. It breaks our hearts to even think about it. She is a wonderful dog and we love her so much. But she needs to be in a One Dog home with her family. Her new home has to be a very good fit for us to do this. We will bring the new owner up to speed on all the good and the not so good part of Roxy, so this has the best chance of working out. Roxy’s new family should be able to have her present most of the day, no other pets, and no children would probably be best.
Please consider Roxy as she needs to be spoiled in the best home that fits her.
