This helps Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue with pet care costs.
My name is Mamba. I am a Boxer mix, born about July 2020.
I’ve been in my foster home long enough to start showing my true personality. The basics - I’m a genuine sweetheart, housebroken, I don’t chew on things I shouldn’t and I do well with a 4’ fence. I’m living with cats (I really wish they’d play with me, but most of the time we just chill together).
I absolutely love car rides and am an excellent passenger. I find so much joy watching the world pass by with the wind on my face. I’ve learned what toys are and find them remarkable! I’ll wrestle with my foster brother (dog) for a short stint, but I really enjoy entertaining myself with toys or bones. Speaking of my foster brother - he taught me this cool thing called neighborhood watch - which is something else I really love. I could look out the window for hours. Sometimes I like to alert the humans of outside threats, but I’m working on learning which threats are “neighbors allowed to be in their own yard”.
Just recently I’ve started cuddling and am cherishing being touched with loving hands. You see, before rescue, I wasn’t treated kindly, so it’s taken time to believe most humans are nice. The little humans next door are my best friends. They’ve been so respectful by taking our friendship slow, but now I sooo love to give them kisses and gallop around the yard following them. Like some beauties, sunbathing is an important part of my regime. Don’t worry if it’s not sunny, I really like being outside.
Wow - I sure am fantastic! I bet you’re wondering why I’m still in rescue. I’ll be honest with you - remember how I said in a previous life I wasn’t treated kindly? Well, as a result, I’m afraid of men. If my forever home has a dad, I’ll need him to be patient and willing to take it slow, helping me believe I can trust him not to hurt me. It may take time, so he’ll have to be committed, but it will be worth it. I promise. I have so much love to share once my barriers come down. My foster uncle was the first human I started playing fetch with, so he’s proof I can trust men. It just needs be someone that understands me and is willing to work through my fears, at my pace. For the same reason, going to public places isn’t a good for me as there are lots of scary men in the world (at least to me they’re scary). So that means I’m not the dog for you if you want to take a dog shopping, to a public patio, dog parks, or to the dog bar.
I can’t wait to have a family of my own, so if I sound like your gal, put in an application! Mamba
The suggested adoption donation for Mamba is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.
Adoptions for Mamba are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that she can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers.
Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.
Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
