Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sweet Potato is a 3 year old, 28lb corgi who might just have the most fitting name ever. He’s soft, sweet, and just needs a little warmth to thrive.
He thinks he’s a little person with “hands” and tries to catch toys with his front paws. It's quite adorable to watch. He absolutely loves to run, especially if a frisbee is involved, and when he gets excited he gets super zoomies and will run laps around the yard.
He walks well on leash, is crate trained, and is very food motivated and will do anything for a treat. He’s curious and loves to investigate what’s happening around the house.
He is a loving boy, who’s currently living with three kids and his guardians have nothing but great things to say about him, and are forthcoming about his limitations when it comes to meeting strangers.
He’s initially unsure of new people, and men in hats and will retreat and seek a hiding place. Who can blame him when he spent the first 6 months of his life on an Amish farm, in total isolation, and deprived of proper human contact. Once he feels secure, his friendly and affectionate side comes out.
He does well with bigger dogs who match his energetic play style, but would also do well as an only pet.
Sweet Potato may not be the tail wagging pup at the sight of a stranger, but he is the kind of dog who will become your shadow once he feels safe. He’s looking for a patient, calm home with someone who understands insecure/shy dogs and willing to continue helping him feel safe in a world that once terrified him.
He is sensitive to loud noises be it fireworks, or storms, and at times loud cars on busy streets make him want to run home to hide.
He has a front leg deformity that doesn’t stop him from running and playing.
If you believe in second chances and that love grows in quiet, steady moments—Sweet Potato is waiting for you.
He is fostered in Baltimore MD
