My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Flower. My foster mom thinks my name fits me perfectly because I'm beautiful and delicate like a flower, and also because of the story behind my name.

I was trapped from the same colony as my friend Bambi, who was a young mama having babies out there, like me. Some of you may remember her story which was really sad; she had an untreatable neurological condition and my helpers lovingly helped her to cross the Rainbow Bridge. But we know that Bambi's spirit lives on, because a few days after she crossed the Bridge, the lady who had been trying to trap me for a year (!!!) asked Bambi to please nudge me into the trap that night..... and into the trap I went! So, my name is also a special way to honor my friend who didn't make it.

I am from a very, very rough colony where multiple cats were shot. I was one of them; fortunately, although I still have a pellet lodged just under my shoulder blade, it caused no damage, and the vet does not expect it to cause any problems in the future. My mom, Zuri, is probably familiar to you too! She has found her purrfect forever family, and now it's my turn.

When I came inside a few months ago I was very nervous about people (you can probably understand why!) I ended up getting sick, and my foster mom syringed food and medicine to me which involved snuggling me up into something called a purrito while she fed me on her lap. It took me awhile but I started to learn that not all humans are scary. My foster mom brought me to her house to help me learn to feel secure in a home, and I have become a bona fide scritch-loving, tummy-showing, purring ball of fluffy love!

I LOVE pets so much, especially getting my back very gently scratched. I will stand up and arch my back in to your hand, and if you stop too soon, I will give you a somewhat offended look to let you know I'm not done yet 🙂 I'm not a big fan of being picked up or sitting on laps, though it's possible that may change with time. I do like to be near people; my favorite spot is tucked between my foster parents, especially if my foster dad is playing video games, I LOVE to watch those!

I also like soft blankets to curl up on; I seem to prefer them to cat beds. I also like looking out windows. I'm a fan of catnip mice and like to chase them around the room, especially at night! My all time fave is the Cat Dancer toy-- my beautiful eyes will light up when that comes out, and I become a kitten again! When it's not in use I'll find it and stare at it til my foster mom gets the hint. I will stand straight up on my back legs for a long time batting at it, and my foster mom says I look like a little miniature bear when I do that.

I am an incredibly gentle and sweet girl, though I am still pretty nervous, especially with new people. I need a very calm, quiet home, without younger children, and with adopters who understand that as a traumatized kitty, I will need a LOT of time to adjust to new people and learn to trust them. My foster mom says I am soooo worth the investment of time, because I am so affectionate, adorable, and extremely entertaining when I get into play mode. She has loved watching me blossom from a terrified kitty to a playful, happy girl. She would like to work closely with my new family to support them in helping me to adjust, and sharing strategies she's used successfully with me.

I'm not sure if I've ever been around dogs, but I do really like other cats. I get along great with all the cats in my foster home and I think I'd probably like to have a kitty friend in my new home. I currently eat wet food and I especially love Tiki chicken. I also enjoy Churu treats and I'll never say no to some Gerber chicken baby food! I am a long-haired girl, so I will need very regular brushing to keep my beautiful fur healthy. I enjoy being brushed, we call it my spa time! My foster mom loves that I have ear floof AND floof on the bottom of my paws. She says my beautiful fur and my smoky grey collar of floof make me incredibly unique. We think I might be part Norwegian forest cat! I'm not sure what all the floof talk is about, but I hope it means that my forever family will want to come meet me and give me the secure and loving forever home that I am so ready to find!
