My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We love a mature, confident, move-in ready doggo! Meet Heide! A breathtakingly beautiful lady who carries herself with quiet grace and timeless loyalty. She’s the kind of dog who makes you slow down, take a deep breath, and appreciate the simple joys, like the warmth of the sun through a window or the comfort of a good cuddle on the couch. Her foster can’t stop raving about her sweet, calm nature! She’s the definition of gentle. When she leans her full weight into you for affection, it’s like she’s offering you a silent thank-you for every pet you give. Cuddling is her love language, and she gives it freely! Whether it’s a slow walk through the neighborhood, a peaceful ride in the car, or just lounging in the living room, Heidi is happiest simply being near her people! We believe Heide is a german shepherd mix of some sort around 6 years old and weighs approximately 55 pounds. Due to her being a rescue, age and breed cannot be guaranteed. But she is definitely a dog worth saving!

She currently lives in a foster home with an Aussie foster brother and gets along swell with him! But Heide has no complaints if the option was to be your one and only. She has a quiet top dog energy. Not pushy, just confident and self-assured. She doesn’t need to be the life of the party, but she’ll be the grounding presence that makes everyone feel at ease. When she met some of the dogs during her visit with us, she played nicely and engaged in a short round of chase. But she ultimately enjoyed watching as the other dogs had a good time. If things were getting too wild, she had no problem letting them know it was time to settle down. If she were to share her home with another dog, it would need to be a low-energy companion who knows how to respect her space and her rhythm. As for cats, Heidi finds them a little too interesting for comfort, so a feline-free home will be best for this discerning queen.

Heide would thrive in a calm, loving household that enjoys a slower pace of life. She has the subtle energy to thrive in a home or apartment lifestyle. She is an older gal, so the less stairs, the better. Her perfect family might be homebodies who like daily strolls, weekends at the park, and the kind of quiet companionship that feels like home. Her foster raves that she’s housebroken, crate trained, and beautifully behaved when free-roaming during the day! No accidents and no drama! She knows basic commands and is wonderfully food motivated, which makes her easy to train and eager to please. Though she doesn’t live with kids, she met a 7-year-old at the dog park and handled the interaction with calm and gentle ease, showing her true, nurturing nature. We believe that she would do well with older dog savvy kiddos that understand how to enrich a lady like Heide. If there is a certain age you are interested in seeing how she interacts with, let us know and we would be happy to find out. We want to make sure she is perfect for your family!

Heide is the total package for someone seeking a mature, devoted, drama-free companion who just wants to enjoy the little things! Good food, cozy beds, a daily walk, and a family to love for the rest of her years.

Does Heide sound like your girl?

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
