My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sugar, a beautiful, independent spirit with a quiet soul and a heart that opens slowly, but meaningfully.

Sugar isn’t your typical lap cat, she’s a true introvert who values her space and moves at her own pace. She would thrive in a calm, patient home that respects her boundaries and understands that connection takes time. She’s incredibly shy and will likely spend her first days (or even weeks) tucked away in a cozy, hidden spot. In her foster home, she prefers to stay under the bed when people are around, only emerging when the house is quiet and still. But when she does come out, especially at night when no one is watching, it’s pure magic.

Sugar comes alive when the world is calm. Her foster family has loved watching her on the pet cam as she plays like a kitten with feather toys and catnip mice, or leaps like a graceful acrobat from platform to platform on the tall cat tree. Her window perch is her sanctuary, where she watches birds and soaks in the peaceful world outside.

She’s good with other cats and would enjoy a home with room to roam, space to explore, and kind people who allow her to learn the ropes on her own terms. Sugar isn’t a cuddler, but she’s learning to be okay with a little human interaction. After two months in foster care, she now gently sniffs her foster’s hand when offered bits of her favorite treat: Fancy Feast hand-flaked salmon and tuna. It's a small step, but a meaningful one. With more time and patience, she’ll likely become a quiet, steady presence, a cat who coexists peacefully in your space and brings joy through her subtle, graceful companionship.

Sugar is not for everyone, but for the right home, she’s an incredibly rewarding cat. She’s a reminder that trust, once earned, is a gift. And she’s absolutely worth the wait.

Adopting from HEA

FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS:
Adoption is a huge deal to us. We make a lifetime guarantee to our companions. In return, we’re asking you to provide a lifetime commitment once you’ve invited a pet to join your family. We’re excited that you're considering adoption. We look forward to working with you to find the right match!

TIMELINE:
Our primary objective is to assure the correct match for the people and the pets that we’re sending to their forever homes. Our goal is to send dogs and cats home as quickly as we can, while still being thorough. Processing times will vary and are largely dependent on our ability to connect with your references, landlord, and veterinarian. To keep the process moving along, please make sure you’ve done your part:
1) Fill out your application completely - missing information slows down the process.
2) Let your references know to expect our call.
3) If you rent, let your landlord know to expect our call.
4) If you currently have pets, ask your veterinarian to be prepared to release your records.

LIFETIME GUARANTEE:
We make a pact with every animal that enters our care: They’re promised a loving home for the rest of their life. In turn, when you make the commitment to adopt, we ask you to make a lifetime commitment. We believe family is forever.
