Fostered in Frederisburg, MO

7/16/25 - Hello potential family, my name is Albert. No, I haven’t won a Nobel Prize, but my foster family thinks I am smart anyway. I was previously in a home with a wonderful mom and two other yorkies. One of my house mates was actually a litter mate of mine. His name was Archie. We got along ok as puppies, but as we got a little older, Archie developed a severe dislike for me. I’m not sure why, because I am a super sweet and adorably cute guy. Maybe he was jealous. Mom tried everything she could to make things work, but in the end, she knew she would need to surrender me so I would be happy. Some might judge and ask why she didn’t give up the problem child, but it was a better call for her to keep Archie in case he might have issues with other pups in the future.
So, I’m in my foster home now with two other fur-brothers and I pick up on their good and bad habits quickly. In my previous home, I was trained to pee pads and would also potty on walks since we did not have a fenced yard. I have a backyard now and enjoy playing around and taking my time to do my business. I have had accidents in my foster home and can only imagine that I will in my next home, so I’ll need parents that are understanding. It will help if you put down pee pads (especially in the corner), since this is where I prefer to go. I tend to go in the corner of the fence even when doing business outside. I guess I feel this gives me some privacy. When no one is home, belly bands are my friend.
I love to play, love to take naps, love sitting in my human’s lap, and time to myself. I’m just an all-around great dude. I love playing with balls if my human will play with me.
I will admit, I have been a little anxious and get scared/startled if a dog comes near me quickly, but I was used to waiting to be lunged at by my fur-brother for a while. When this happens, I usually let out a scream. Muscle memory I guess. Also, since my original mom was retired, I was rarely left alone. So, I do have separation anxiety when foster mom and dad have to leave. The vet suggested to put me on some medicine to “take the edge off” so I can transition and learn that the world is going to be a great place and foster mom and dad will return. So, I’m just like the rest of the world, I hear, and take some anxiety meds once a day. Hopefully, as this gets in my system, my confidence level will boost and I will then be able to get off of it. The funny thing is that recently, with all the fireworks going off on July 4th, I wasn’t fazed.
I’m not a chewer and I hear that is a plus. But, since I am just a puppy at heart, I do try to steal from the trash if I can get to it. My ideal home will be with someone who is home a good bit. Possibly a laid-back fur-brother or fur-sister who can help me learn to play without being scared that things may get rough. I do like to play with older children, but only ones that aren’t too overwhelming and are respectful of my size. A mom and dad that will let me sleep with them when I want to. I might be a work in progress in some areas, but who isn’t?
