Hi! My name is Diza (pronounced dee-zah)! I’m 10 years young and weigh around 27 pounds, which is the perfect size as far as I’m concerned. Foster mom says that I’m the most laid-back beagle that she’s ever known, and she also says that I’m also “super sweet!” One of my favorite things to do is cuddle with foster mom – there’s nothing like spending the evening sprawled across her lap in quiet contentment. I very much enjoy the company of my people, and while I lived with a dog in my prior home, I would do just fine as an only dog. I’ve never been around cats, so I’m not sure how I would react to them. When I go to doggy daycare, I just chill out and watch the other dogs as they play.
I also love going for walks, and while I do follow my nose (just as any self-respecting beagle would), I walk very nicely on a leash - I don’t pull at all. I enjoy car rides as well, and I’d make the perfect passenger for your next road trip!
The one thing I get really excited about is food! When it’s time to eat, I do my best imitation of a pogo stick by jumping straight up in the air to show just how excited I am. Because I have IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), I have to be very careful about what I eat, and I’m taking a couple of medications to help manage this condition. I also have a heart murmur, and I’ll be on medication for the rest of my life for that. Foster mom can tell you more about this when you talk to her.
Something that I do not get excited about is being in a crate, but I am so well-behaved that I don’t need one. When foster mom goes out, I’m confined to the kitchen, and I do just fine. I am housebroken and will bark to let you know that I need to go potty. While a fenced yard would be nice, I’m on a tether when I go outside, and I have no issues.
When it’s time for bed, I start out by curling up in bed with foster mom, but during the night I’ll make my way to the floor and sleep there. And when it’s morning, I am a gentle little beagle alarm clock – I let out an adorable little “yip” to let foster mom know it’s time to get up and start the day!
