My story

Their adoption process

Once an application is approved, we ask potential adopters to come to the shelter to visit the pet or pets they are interested in. If it seems like a great fit, then we would have you fill out the Adoption Contract and provide you with the pet's medical chart, some of the food it is currently eating, and offer any advice we can on that individual cat or dog.

More about this shelter

Safe Haven is a small non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, located in Jo Daviess County and supported entirely by community donations & memberships. Our Board of Directors, Shelter Staff, and Dedicated Volunteers believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of cats, dogs, and the people who care about them. Our mission at Safe Haven is to provide a haven and treatment for adoptable cats & dogs, place them in suitable homes, increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and promote spay & neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Jo Daviess County.
