My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Coming soon!! Tucker is 6 years old and 65 lbs.  The family he was adopted to gave him to a random stranger who turned out to be homeless.  He was let loose by this random stranger and hit by a car sustaining a right femur fracture.  After regaining ownership of Tucker we were able to have his leg repaired on 7/16/25.  He is a sweet, people and dog friendly boy and will be available for adoption after he recovers from surgery in the lovng and caring home of his foster family.

Tucker is an adorable 5 month old black and white cattle dog mix (best guess!). He currently weighs about 28 pounds and still has some growing to do. He was abandoned at a local lake and was unsure of people at first but has been living in a loving foster home with two other dogs that he enjoys playing and cuddling with. Tucker would love a home with a friendly dog or two and/or ollder children who want to throw the ball for him.  A fenced yard and an owner willing to take him on adventures is ideal.

To meet Tucker please fill out our no obligation application at www.dsda.org/adopt

Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.

  • Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our amazing dogs:

1. Please fill out an adoption application. We will be in touch shortly after receiving your application to review it with you.

2. If the application is approved, the adoption team will work with you and the foster to schedule a meeting. You are also welcome to attend our adoption events to meet our dogs, however, it is encouraged to email us first to ensure a particular dog will be attending the event.

3. After meeting the dog, if all parties agree the process should continue, a home visit wil be scheduled and you will be asked to have a list of supplies ready for your dog to come home.

4. If the home visit is successful, the adoption contract is signed, the adoption donation is collected, and your dog stays with you that day. During the 10-day trial period, you and your dog will decide if it is the absolute perfect fit. If it's not, you will work with the adoption coordinator to return the dog.

Adoption Fee - The adoption fee helps cover your dog's basic health needs including spay/neuter and vaccinations. Because many of our dogs come straight from the street, their medical needs are extensive. We spend an average of $500 on each pet for medical needs, training, and rehabilitation. For this reason, we kindly ask for the following minimum donations: $300 for puppies 12 months and under & $250 for adult dogs.
