Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Welcome is a sweet gal who is looking for a family of her own! She came into the shelter with an unknown wound (*WUO-see blow) that required her to be quarantine for 4 months! She is finally cleared for adoption and looking forward to getting out of the shelter. We think she would prefer to be an only cat and she would like you to know she does NOT like to be picked up. But she does LOVE being pet and rubbing against your legs for lovin.

*What the heck is a WUO? WUO stands for Wound of Unknown Origin. In Massachusetts, a domestic animal (like a dog or cat) with a wound of unknown origin (presumed to be from another animal) is generally subject to a quarantine period of FOUR MONTHS to observe for signs of rabies. During that time the pet must be kept in strict confinement and only rabies vaccinated personnel are allowed contact. We still give them love every day and enrichment to keep their brains working, they also get out of cage time to stretch their legs.

Additional adoption info

You must be 18 years or older to adopt an animal. A valid ID is required.

If you own your own home, please provide proof of home-ownership; a mortgage receipt, tax bill, water bill or deed will suffice.

If you rent, please bring your lease which states the type of pet you are interested in and that it is accepted or the name and phone of your landlord so we can verify the pet is allowed. Inquire with your landlord about any size or breed restrictions.

Please check with your home owner’s insurance company or landlord to find out if they have any restrictions on the breed(s) of dog they cover. Common breeds that may not be covered include: Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers and German Shepherds.

For the health and safety of the pet you are interested in adopting and your existing pets, we ask that you provide proof of current vaccinations and spay/neuter status for pets in your home. (We may be able to call your veterinarian if you do not have a copy available.)

A new pet is a family decision and we ask that all members of your family meet the pet and agree on the suitability for your household.

If you already have a dog(s) in your home please bring the dog(s) with you to meet the dog you are considering to see if they are compatible.

Complete an adoption application and talk with a staff member for more information about the animal you are considering.

Founded in 1873, the Lowell Humane Society is one of the oldest humane organizations in the state of Massachusetts. The purpose of the Lowell Humane Society is to prevent cruelty to animals, provide care for homeless and distressed animals and educate the public about responsible pet ownership. The shelter is a private not for profit organization and does not receive any city, state or federal funding.
