My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Mittens — a 2-year-old tabby gal with a soft spot for cozy spots and gentle company. I might be a little shy when we first meet, but give me some time and I’ll turn into your loyal little shadow, quietly following you from room to room. One of my favorite quirks? I’m a self-petter! I’ll rub my head against your hand, arm, or leg to show affection in my own special way — it’s pretty adorable if I do say so myself. I love to play fetch with pom poms, chase laser pointers, and scratch on cardboard boxes, and exploring cat houses. I’m litter box trained and perfectly content to entertain myself when you’re busy, so no worries about separation anxiety here.
Now, full honesty — I can get a little cranky sometimes and might throw in a swat or two if I’m feeling unsure. But with patience, love, and a calm environment, I know I’ll keep blossoming into my best self. I’m also carrying a few extra pounds, but that just makes me extra cuddly (and I’m working on my fitness goals one play session at a time!).

I may not be picture perfect, but I’m hoping to find someone who sees me for who I am — a sweet, funny, perfectly imperfect girl who just wants a home to call her own.

My adoption fee of $25 includes up-to-date vaccinations, dewormer, and heartworm/flea prevention. Plus, a microchip that is already registered to you! What more could you ask for?

If you`d like to meet me, please fill out an application on our website, PawmettoLifeline.org. Adoptions are by appointment Tuesday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday are walk in from 10-5.

More about this shelter

Pawmetto Lifeline, formerly Project Pet, was founded in 1999. Since the opening of our adoption, medical, and boarding facility in Spring 2012, we have been able to save more than 15,000 companion pets from euthanasia and gave them a new lease on life. We continue to strive toward the goal of a no-kill community and state through adoption, pet retention, rescue partnerships, and medical services.
