My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Tessa, our very own chaos goblin with a heart of gold. ⚡🐾 This girl has energy for days—if enthusiasm was currency, she’d be a billionaire by now. She loves kids (though not the toddler variety, because “being picked up like a sack of potatoes” is not her vibe), enjoys most other dogs, and has a complicated relationship with cats. At the shelter she’s all, “Wow, what lovely feline friends!” … then at home she’s like, “CHASE MODE ACTIVATED.” 🐱💨 With a little training, though, she could definitely learn that cats are roommates, not zoom toys.

Tessa’s favorite place is outside, where she runs around like she’s training for the Zoomie Olympics. She spent months at the dog pound before we swooped in and rescued her, but now she’s just been hanging out at the shelter waiting for her forever home. And honestly? She’s wondering what the holdup is.

If you’re ready for a life filled with laughter, outdoor adventures, and a dog who will 100% keep you on your toes, Tessa is your girl. Come adopt her before she learns how to drive and comes to find you herself. 🚗🐶More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

More about this shelter

Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
