My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beautiful Alexa is ready to find the people who can give her the safe and loving home that she deserves. She originally came to us from the Turks & Caicos Islands and it is apparent that life was not good to her in her first 6 months of life there. She has now decompressed and is showing her true nature which is an active, fun, goofy girl who just wants a secure safe yard, a confident dog friend. and loving people to spend the rest of her days with. Alexa is about a year old and is a great medium size at about 42 lbs. She is a smart, playful pup but is incredibly shy and nervous when introduced to new things. Her default is to make herself small and try to be invisible. If you can commit to being very patient and kind for a few months, you will be repaid with an amazing dog. When she does know she is in a safe place with good people, she is a BLAST! and it will be so rewarding to know that you were the one to give her this level of love and safetly. Alexa is a zoomie queen and and loves to run in her fenced yard and play with her foster family. She is a BIG toy fan and likes to bring her collection with her and stash them all around the house along with some strong chew toys. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and enjoys playing with them and is great around cats. We feel that having another dog will help her open up a little bit faster as she takes their lead and is such a sweet, safe companion to them.  Alexa LOVES to run and will need to have a fenced in yard to do so.  She seems to be fine around children but we would recommend children over 8 that have experience with dogs. If you want to change the life of a dog who really needs you, please consider meeting this special girl. Write to us a info@spottydogrescue.org

This little Potcake will take some time to come around to her new environment but if you have a lot of love, time and patience for her to feel at home with you, fill out an application  https://spottydogrescue.org/adoptable-pets/

More about this rescue

FOSTER-BASED

All of our dogs are housed in loving foster homes until their forever family finds them.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

To provide safe harbor, medical care and love for adoptable dogs that have been abused, abandoned and neglected until they are placed into loving, responsible permanent homes; to decrease the need for senseless destroying of dogs by educating the public about the benefits of spaying & neutering; to build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness; to promote respect for life, responsible pet ownership and to encourage the higher ideals of compassion towards animals and people through education and example.

OUR COMMITMENT

Prior to adoption, each dog is spayed or neutered, receives a comprehensive veterinary examination and appropriate tests and inoculations. We conduct a thorough screening of all potential adopters to ensure the best possible match between healthy dogs and adoptive homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our rescued dogs. Our mission does not end with adoption. We follow up with advice, support and appropriate resources to assure a successful integration of each dog into his or her new home.
