My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

AMETHYST hails from the Dryden area and came south along with her mum, Gem and her Gemettes, Tiger Eye and Zircon, to find her loving forever home. She’s spayed, had her two sets of vaccines including a rabies shot, a microchip, Revolution and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. This beautiful, affectionate girl is your typical active Torti who loves to be busy and play with all types of cat toys. She’s adorably friendly and loves to snuggle and becomes a purring machine when she’s on your lap. She’s also good helping with paperwork and will help shuffle papers when they’re on your lap but her talent hasn’t quite stretched to filing yet.

AMETHYST is litter box trained and she’s never had an accident outside of the box. She loves to eat both kibble and wet food but her favourite thing of all is to eat Temptations treats especially just before she’s told it’s bedtime. She loves to play with dangly toys and anything with feathers on the end of it. She also likes playing with the stuffie type cat toys but will also chase the balls around that have a little bell in them. She’s in a foster home with puppies and she will play with them so she would be comfortable in a home with a dog as long as the dog is cat savvy and as always we recommend a slow, monitored introduction be made. She’s well socialized with other cats and kittens too as there’s several in her foster home so she would also suit being with a cat in her new home. We feel she would best suit having either a cat or dog in the home as she’s never been an only child so would be quite lonely being left alone. Children should be aged 6 plus and be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.
If you would like to meet AMETHYST then please submit an adoption application to do so.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
