Hi there, I’m Akira. I’m a beautiful 8-year-old Malamute-Husky mix with a soft heart and a whole lot of love to give. People call me a cuddle bug, and honestly, they’re not wrong. I’m ready to find a calm, loving home where I can finally feel like I belong.
I’m fully housebroken and crate trained, but I don’t really need the crate—I’m very well-mannered and can be trusted when left alone. I love my humans and enjoy being around them, and I do great with medium to large dogs. I haven’t met many small dogs or cats, so I’m still not sure how I feel about them.
I enjoy peace and quiet, especially for my naps, but I also love toys that make me think. Chew toys and puzzle toys are my favorites. I recently discovered squeaky toys, and now I can’t get enough of them. I toss them in the air and try to make them squeak—it’s the best.
Walks are something I get really excited about. I’m still learning to walk nicely on a leash, and I do pull a bit at first, but I’m working hard to improve. I just love exploring new places, especially when there’s fresh air and new smells.
I love laying next to my humans, but I’m still learning to be comfortable with cuddles when I’m on my bed. Sometimes I’ll growl to let you know I need space, but I’ve never bitten—I just like to communicate honestly. I’m also really smart. I’ve learned to let my foster family know when I need to go outside or come back in, and I picked up on that pretty quickly.
I haven’t had accidents in the house, and I don’t chew on furniture. My foster family gives me a nice orthopedic bed with a sheet over it so I don’t get tempted to nibble. In my old home, I used to chew dog beds, but I’m doing much better now. Because of my thick double coat, I can get warm easily, so I’ll need a home that makes sure I always have water and a way to stay cool.
I may be a bit older, but I have a young spirit and so much love left to give. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, and loyal companion who’s just as happy going on walks as she is napping nearby, I might be the one for you.
I’m ready for a home to call my own.

More about this rescue
We started this small rescue in rememberance that rescue work is strictly about the dogs. We do our best to help save as many dogs as we can with our limited resourses.
We can always use volunteers and Foster homes to help us accommplish this task. Any donations would be greatly appreciated as well from $5 to $500 and they all go to helping more dogs.
