Quincy was born October 31, 2023, and was unwanted. Most of his siblings were given away at 4 weeks old, but Quincy and his sister Tootsie had no place to go and were not safe. A kind lady took them in temporarily to try to help them, and they came into ARF's care on Valentine's Day, 2024. The foster mom started them on good quality food and gave them a de-wormer on 2/17/24. Mama was a red heeler and the daddy dog a lab/hound mix she said. Quincy seemed good-natured and smart, and in no time the pups were keeping a clean kennel. He has one brown eye and one mostly blue eye and his coat is a mixture of dark brown, white, and gray. The first vet check on 2/27/24 revealed the need for drontal to treat whip worms. At that visit, Quincy weighed 26 pounds, but these are growing pups and will likely be good-sized dogs. Both had negative results to their 4DX test. They were altered on March 11, 2024.Quincy began to exhibit signs of a medical issue involving excessive urination. Poor guy tried to hold it, but he had to go out every few minutes. Testing began as well as tracking intake of water. He took an antibiotic. On 5/9/24 Quincy was checked at MedVet. He came home with another, stronger antibiotic to take in case there is a bacterial infection that isn't showing up. It's wait and see for this good dog, but he was so good at MedVet that several people asked if he would be available for adoption!
Quincy's medical condition proved complicated with medication required and understanding of his condition. Quincy is such a sweet and smart dog that his foster family, Jenny and Lou Ann, decided he could live permanently with them. What a wonderful conclusion for a sweet dog who has a medical issue that is improving, but will not go away!
