Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Delilah is a sweet and curious girl who`s ready to find her forever home! This lovely lady is a pro in her crate, settling in very well, especially when a trail of yummy treats leads the way to a treat party inside! While she`s not one for toys in her crate, she truly appreciates her quiet space.
Out on walks, Delilah is a strong girl with an impressive nose! She`s incredibly interested in all the fascinating scents the world has to offer, spending most of her time with her nose to the ground. A harness would be a great tool to help her manage her excitement and keep her comfortable on her adventures. We`re working on helping her feel more comfortable around other dogs, and her new family should be prepared to continue this positive reinforcement training. She`s currently focused on decompressing and learning to feel safe in her environment.
Delilah is a smart cookie! Her oral mouthwash and eye meds go down easiest after a good, long walk. When it comes to playtime, tennis balls are her absolute favorite, and she`ll happily gnaw on a Nylabone or plush toy for a little while before moving on to her next adventure.
While Delilah isn`t constantly seeking out attention, she does have her sweet moments! On occasion, she`ll roll over and show you her tummy, asking for some gentle pets. She`s a big fan of cooling down on tile floors when she`s feeling a bit warm, and she absolutely adores being outside in a yard, where she can happily sniff and explore to her heart`s content! Delilah is very treat-motivated, which will be a huge plus for continued training.
If you`re looking for a dog who loves to explore, enjoys her personal space, and will thrive with continued positive reinforcement and training, Delilah might just be your perfect match! Delilah does need a home with no young kids and would do best in a home with experience in owning breeds like a Shar Pei. Come meet this wonderful girl and see if she`s the one for you!

A staff member will ask you what sort of pet you are looking for and then will provide you with information about specific pets that appear to be a good fit for your family, taking into consideration such factors as: kids, level of activity, your pet experience, other animals currently in the home, etc. You will be encouraged to interact with the pet or pets of your choice in a private visiting room. We believe that bringing a new pet into your home is an important decision so you’ll have plenty of time to make your decision without feeling rushed. Staff and volunteers will be available throughout this time to answer any questions you may have. Once you’ve made your choice, an adoption counselor will review the adoption contract with you.
You’ll pay the adoption fee. Then you’ll take your new family member home with you!
An animal can be put on hold in person at the TAILS facility during regular adoption hours.

Our mission: Saving the lives of companion animals through rescue, adoption and spay/neuter; advocating for pets in our region.
TAILS Humane Society is a limited admission animal shelter providing a safe haven for almost 2,400 animals each year. We are committed to providing each animal the time and medical care they need to have their best chance at adoption.
TAILS was established in 1999 by a group of local animal advocates dedicated to bringing a comprehensive animal shelter to DeKalb. We operated out of an old farmhouse until 2005 when we cut the ribbon on our Barber Greene facility. In 2009, we opened our low cost Spay/Neuter Clinic providing quality, affordable sterilization services to the public. We continue to grow and strengthen our programs and service as we continue to save lives.
