Here's what the humans have to say about me:
12/14/15 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!
Age: 8 years
Weight: 8 lbs.
Adoption Fee: $250
Fostered in Texas
Email: yorkietude@yahoo.com
10/14/25 - So Toker’s appointment to the veterinary dentist proved fruitful and some additional annoying teeth were removed and an in-depth cleaning happened. He has a few good ones left and eats his canned food just fine. He has now recovered from that and is just waiting for that perfect home to come along.
Toker is a laid-back, reliable companion who enjoys meeting new people. He recently had a grand day at the beach where he even got his feet wet, But, his favorite time was spent charming all the humans, big and small, walking by. He even had fun with the older respectful children. He has a new favorite game at home called “Toy Box Avalanche” – Where he will empty the whole thing out, one toy at a time.
We will not brag and say that he is completely potty trained, but he truly has not had any accidents lately. And has proven totally reliable when left alone for a few hours. There is a doggy-door at his foster home, but Toker is having no part of that. He will bark at the doggy door, but won’t mess up his hair going in an out. Lol
Applications are now open for this awesome, happy guy. He is sweet, loving, adorable and smart. Just missing a permanent address. Will you be his happy ending?
7/28/25 - Toker was having some slight neuro symptoms and bile acid testing was done. They were somewhat elevated. He is being referred to Internal Medicine.
7/22/25 - The name is Toker and they estimated me to be 8 years young. Seems my last owner could not take care of me and turned me into animal control. Thank goodness I wasn’t there long. Seems the shelter manager had a hook-up and into an available Yorkie Haven Rescue foster home I went. It’s pretty cool here. They only have 1 other dog and he is older so we don’t really interact very much. I’m not into snuggling with other dogs, just my people.
A laid back household with no children and no active dogs would be best for me. I like the simple things in life. A nice stroll (with harness and leash) in the afternoons, a good lap to watch tv, some good vittles a.m. and p.m., at least one parent that stays home and my humans to snuggle up to in bed at night. Too much to ask? I think not!
Foster mom says I’ve been really reliable in the potty department when they run errands, so I am free to roam the kingdom. I may have accidents at first, but with diligent parents that stay with a routine, I pick up on things quickly. I’m more attached to foster mom, but enjoy foster dad’s lap as well. It’s just that foster mom seems to know where the food is hidden in the house.
I like my fenced backyard that I have now, but I do enjoy our family walks and will do my business on the end of a leash if needed. I love greeting humans when I see them on my walks, and I get highly insulted if they ignore me. Other dogs and bicycles I tend to challenge and lunge at. Maybe it is just because I know foster mom will reel me back in, so I can act all tough.
Don’t be surprised if when I first get to my new home if I seem obsessive with toys. It’s my coping mechanism for stressful times. I love chasing and taunting the occasional squirrel or lizard when outside, but am in tune with my humans, so will usually do my business and go in if even look like they are entering the house.
If you are one to like multiple dog beds around the house for my comfort, let me save you a little money. I Have never used the many dog beds in my foster home. I am a furniture guy and will be sitting where my humans are sitting. Some of those doggy stairs to get into the human bed at night are very helpful unless you just plan on picking me up and putting me down. I also like to be held, so if you are into building your biceps, look no further, I’m your guy.
I’m not a big kisser. I know, I thought I would be too, but not so much. I’m pretty good with the normal household noises, i.e., vacuum cleaner, garbage disposal, new garbage bag, etc. Just as long as household noises aren’t high energy level and chaotic. I am a little funny when being groomed around my face, but foster mom told me that most yorkies are.
I’m pretty clingy to my people and wish for new parents that are ok with that and have time for a new baby. When foster mom and dad have to leave to run errands, I will cry and carry on for a little while, but the jokes on me. They have cameras that I wasn’t aware of, and caught me just getting on the back of the sofa to watch all the entry ways from my perch and soon as they drive off.
Foster mom was a little concerned lately. She has mentioned to others that she sees me from time to time with a “tick” she is calling it. Doesn’t seem to be anything major and I don’t do it all the time, but we are going to get some testing done at the vet to see if we can figure out what might be going on since she can’t catch it on video and the vet hasn’t seen it. Better safe than sorry she says. I’ll keep you updated on the findings.
