My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Come meet me and 100+ of my adoptable friends at Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue's MEGA adoption event, Home for the Holidays! Saturday, December 13th, 2025 at Paradise Island in Staten Island from 11am - 3pm!

Meet Harris! Harris is a 6-month-old, approximately 20-pound mixed breed pup who may never quite grow into her beautiful soft ears. She’s crate trained, knows sit, stay, and “go lie down,” and loves to play fetch and tug-of-war with her favorite toys. She’s very intelligent and highly treat-motivated.

At home, Harris is all puppy play indoors, happily working her way through every toy without bothering the furniture. She’s well-behaved in the car, great with kids and dogs, and is still learning that the cat is actually the one in charge. She’s progressing wonderfully in her training and improves every day. Although she doesn’t always signal when she needs to go out beyond quietly heading to the door, she is house trained as long as you keep her on a consistent schedule. Once her puppy energy winds down, she becomes a total mush for cuddles. Though she’s small, Harris thinks she’s a big dog and loves to “herd” people and animals alike. She’ll also let you know—on her terms—when she’s okay being picked up or hugged.

Harris has been learning to walk on a leash and is absolutely obsessed with squirrels. She’s happy to meet most dogs and people and tends to mirror the energy they bring.

Harris is eager to find her forever home. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate, playful, and snuggly pup, Harris is your girl. Apply to meet her today!

Harris is currently being fostered in Brooklyn, NY. Her adoption fee is $500.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
