My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oreo is a 5-year-old neutered male Australian Shepherd/Beagle mix with a heart as sweet as his name. This beautiful, clean, and intelligent boy has a loving personality and is searching for his forever person — someone he can stay close to and love endlessly.
Oreo came to us from a difficult past, but during his two months in foster care, he’s made wonderful progress. He’s learning manners, boundaries, and how to simply enjoy being part of a caring home. He has especially bonded with his foster dad and loves following him everywhere — his happiest moments are just being by his person’s side.
Oreo would thrive in a calm home with someone who is retired or works from home, as he truly needs to be with his people. While he gets along with other dogs, he doesn’t require a canine companion. His ideal home would be one without young children, where he can relax and feel secure.
Oreo is ready to give his heart completely to someone who will offer him love, patience, and a safe forever home. He will be a loyal and devoted companion to the person lucky enough to call him theirs

.
If you're interested in making Oreo a part of your family, please get in touch with his rescuers! His adoption fee is $150 which cover his shots and heartworm prevention. He is healthy and has many more years of love to give. He was purchased as a puppy from a breeder.
Our dogs are cared for in loving homes, not kennels, and we work closely with each one to understand their needs, personalities, and quirks. This way, when you adopt, you know everything possible about your new companion - no surprises, just a smoother transition into your family. The adoption fee reflects the time, care, and support we dedicate to every dog, ensuring they are healthy, happy, and ready for their forever home.

More about this rescue

Common and understandable questions we encounter are “Where do the donations go?” and “Why are the puppies more expensive?”

Our philosophy at Find a Home, Give a Home is “all for one, and one for all”. This is why we list puppies at a higher adoption fee than our shelter babies. Puppies usually have less initial veterinary costs and are typically adopted at a quicker pace than adult dogs. The fees we receive for our puppies OFFSET the cost for all the precious lives we save that haven’t been as fortunate.

While cute little puppies (breeder surrender/confiscation) are often the most desirable and sought after, our true purpose is the humanitarian effort of finding homes for shelter dogs. Rescue dogs from shelters have not received even the basic veterinary care ever or regularly and are often abandoned and found in terrible physical condition, and sometimes are injured and need emergency and specialty veterinary treatment and care. We do everything we can to help these dogs to regain their health both physically and mentally. As these precious babies heal in foster homes, unfortunately, the veterinary costs do add up. Once they are healed, they sometimes have “special needs” which require temporary or permanent medications. All of this can delay finding the right forever home for them.
