My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process
________________________________________________________________________________
Note from Peter's Foster: "This family of boys came to the rescue very shy and nervous, but with a little coaxing (and a lot of treats) they are all warming up to me! Now they run to my hand when I open the cage door, looking for a snack. I just have to make sure I have a treat ready for each guy to take, or there will be some brotherly rivalry!"

Estimated birth date: 04/01/2025

Personality: Nervous, Quiet, Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc)

Favorite treats: Peas, Cheerios, lima beans, most fruits.

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food, Fruit, Veggies

Favorite toys and activities: Exploring, hiding, hammocks, and boxes.

Potty trained: Litter box trained

This animal’s daily routine: Flexible. He is very used to sleeping during the day and being active at night

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Peter needs a buddy in his adoptive home.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: None

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? None

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: Thumper is in our trust training program for shyness.

Other notes: Peter does not like being held, but he is allowing me to pet him when food is involved. He is okay climbing on his foster and taking treats from their hand, and we are working on getting him more comfortable with being touched and held.

If he is annoyed or scared, he will sometimes nip.

More about this rescue

MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended or in other types of vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and general public.
