My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOVES SNUGGLING, PETTING, & PAMPERING

DOB 9/9/23

Hey there, everyone! I’m Lady Matilda Catherine St. Gertrude, the Duchess of Silvester, a.k.a Tilly. I’m a sweet, friendly, easygoing brown tabby gal who likes to snuggle next to Foster Meowmy while we binge on Dr. Who episodes together on the sofa. Aside from when we clench our teeth during the thrilling sci-fi adventures, I luxuriate while Meowmy gently strokes my ears, cheeks, and chin. I also enjoy our pampering sessions when she brushes me while I’m relaxing on soft pillows.

You can tell from my long name and title that I was born an aristocat who had everything that a young kitty could want. Yet I had an adventurous and romantic heart, and once my eyes caught sight of the dashing rogue William Bones, Captain of the pirate ship Raccoon Chaser, I threw caution to the winds. I abandoned my life of luxury and set off with him on an adventure into the great unknown. Happy, brave, and carefree, Billy and I explored the world and discovered new sights and smells. We lived our best young cat lives – that is, until life in the wild presented several hardships.

Soon I found myself giving birth to three beautiful kittens underneath an old house. I was an exemplary mother in caring for my babies. I joined Billy by hunting mice and lizards to provide for food them. However, when we had to defend them from raccoons, I realized life in the wild was no place for such adorable kittens. When Chili, Chipotle, and Carolina Reaper were about two months old, my brave pirate lover led me to a kind human household, and soon all five of us were in the safe haven of our foster home. Instead of living paw-to-mouth, we discovered all the joys of eating from white china bowls that brim with food, climbing cat trees, and playing with toy mice. I’m completely content to stare out the window -- only to reminisce about my piratical adventures. I especially enjoy relaxing in my favorite forward-fold yoga pose.

Now I’m ready to bring my loving, relaxed temperament to grace my forever family. Could that be you? Full disclosure: as a noble lady, I only surround myself with cats and people whom I deem as excellent in character. And although I like other cats, I might need time to get acquainted with them. If you’re ready to welcome an aristocat into your heart and hearth, serve Churus on a silver spoon, and generously sprinkle catnip at my feet, I’m the girl for you! Arrange to meet me today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adopting an animal is a very serious decision and we want to be sure that our potential adoptive families have thought about the impact of this decision carefully. To adopt an animal through HOPE, we request that you complete an Adoption Application, a copy of which is available online for cats at http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/cat-adoption.php or for dogs at http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php. You may fill it out online or print a copy of the application and complete it prior to arriving at an adoption session. This will expedite the adoption process and will also assist our adoption counselors in matching you to a suitable pet.

We at HOPE make every effort to match our foster pets to appropriate homes. If you feel that we are too intrusive, please understand that it is because we care about their welfare.

Fees
All animals are neutered or spayed and have received age appropriate shots prior to being adopted. We ask that you provide a $100 donation for cats and a donation of $150 for dogs when you adopt your new family member from us. This donation helps us in defraying the costs of these and other medical needs of our animals.

More about this rescue

Our mission is to end the homelessness of cats and dogs through foster to adoption, feral cat Trap-Neuter-Return, and education.

HOMELESS & ORPHANED PETS ENDEAVOR (HOPE) is an all-foster, no kill adoption group based in the Houston area.

HOPE covers the cost of general medical expenses for the animals in the program, such as altering, routine vaccinations and treatment for parasites. Our foster families are asked to provide food, shelter and love to the animals for which they care. They receive no payment for the services that they provide. Without them, and the other volunteers who so selflessly do what is necessary to keep HOPE afloat, it would not be possible to run this nonprofit corporation.

One aim of HOPE is to develop a network of area rescue and humane organizations which will facilitate the rescue and placement of a variety of animals. The goal is to never have to turn away an animal in need. By forming a coalition of humane and rescue groups in the Houston area, we could potentially place all animals who need a temporary home until they are placed into a permanent one.
