My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AVAILABLE
UPDATED 12-23-2025
Amanda is a very sweet super snuggler, and quiet. She is 19 months old and she is looking for a calm home. She loves to be petted, held, and to be with you. She adores people and will sit with you all day, be your lap cat, and be a wonderful companion and friend. She isn't pushy and will let all the other cats in front of her, but she's very happy if you notice her. Amanda doesn't like drama and will hide if the room is chaotic. But when things are calm, she loves window watching and cat trees and hanging around her people. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. She gets along with other cats. Amanda is unique in that she looks like a white cat at quick glance, but she has calico ears and tail. She's a beauty!
She had been overlooked because of her eyes. She has continuous leaky eyes. Please don't take her off your list, she's been looked at and she is healthy. We just pet her eyes with a warm wet paper towel, and she is fine having them cleaned off. She is really a loving girl who will be a wonderful companion.

More about this rescue

Building compassionate communities in East Central Illinois and West Central Indiana is a vitally compelling mission of CARA. We are committed to ending the unnecessary killing of healthy adoptable cats and dogs by providing a safe haven dedicated to the humane treatment of, and compassion for rescued, abandoned and abused animals surrendered to us. Animals in our care, our guests, are never killed. Our guest’s length of stay with us is not determined by a predefined amount of time and are cared for all their natural life. CARA’s ability to take in more guests is determined by our adoptions. As pets are adopted and space opens up, we will take in more. We are dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of our guests by ensuring each one is examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and receives medical treatment before they are placed in stable, healthy, and loving homes. To further our mission to create compassionate communities in the counties we serve, we are devoted to reducing pet overpopulation, increasing public awareness related to animal issues, and promoting pet health by providing low-cost spay and neutering services for companion animals in our community. We also work with pet owners to sustain animals in their current home by providing dietary support and consultation to mitigate, where possible, the hardships pet owners face in keeping the animal in their home.
